It’s not a Liberal mobile when the roads are snow covered and icy.

It’s a useful tool.

Ditto. I have a 2003 Forester and the Wife a 2004. I keep the studded snow tires rimmed in the barn for quick on and off during the season. I have to admit they are the best (AWD) during bad winter weather, however it is sobering when you see many other vehicles all over the road sliding.

I do have one complaint about the 2003. I had to replace the transmission 2 years ago. There is a problem with the cruise control that Subaru refuses to recognize. On very steep highway grades (typical in western pa) the cruise control will shift into low gear and not release. This occurs every time when climbing the laurel ridge on 22 and coming back out of Altoona on 22 west. The first time damaged the torque converter and I ended up returning home in limp mode. A few mechanics in the area are aware of the problem, but subaru refuses to acknowledge or investigate the issue.

The 2003 is not turbo and the problem does not occur with my Wife's 2004 model. Other than that, these vehicles are best we have owned and have gotten us through many winter storms.
