When the TG&Y in Dodge City, Kansas closed, they cleared everything out starting at 10% off everything. I had seen these type closeouts before and didn’t expect any really good deals so didn’t stop in.
When it got down to 70% off, I decided to go in just to see if anything of any value was left. There wasn’t any except I was shocked to see a pile of .22 LR Remington High Speed in the case.
I have no idea what happened but suspect some employee had hid some in back and waited until the deal was too good to pass up and brought it out. It is also possible that some manager found it and brought it out. Anyway there it was.
I got out my credit card and bought 650 boxes for a little over $200. Back then the retail price on them was 99 cents.
That worked out to 32,500 rounds of .22 LR ammo. I have since added at least that much more so I must have around 60,000 rounds minus the few hundred I have fired since then.
I have a good supply of 9mm, 6.5 Swedish Mauser (most of it is Lapua Match), and 12 gauge. I have adequate supply of 20 gauge, .45 auto (right now I don’t even have a .45 gun).
I am under supplied in 8mm Mauser, 7.65 Tokarev, .380. and .40 S&W.
I have a good supply of several pistol and revolver rounds and no longer have a gun to fire it.
I will probably try to sell some of the .22 if demand keeps up.
Last week I just got my Swedish Mauser back from my brother who claimed it was his for the longest time. It is a family heirloom that I want to give to my son. He told me to come and get it because the cartridges cost $100 per box. I went to Fleet Farm and picked up two boxes for $36.00. It was my first deer hunting rifle.
They is a shooting bunch.
