That is a huge assumption on your part.

Gen-Xer?
Innovator?
If Beck is attracting young people I’d like to know where as stations are dropping his shows.
Now, how is Beck going to gather together these super young?
Do you really think crying and complaining will do it?
Seriously, do you think low information voters are going to turn on Beck’s show on public stations or pay for the private?
You optimism service you well, I think some realism is needed as well.

He backs up his words with facts and history and they can’t fight the truth.
The truth is the sting of death to a lie.

Based on experience. I know the behavior of addicts when I see it. Liberals love them some crack pipe.

Ah-

Well he says he is clean and sober. I will admit I am confused by some of his recent behavior. I think his heart is in the right place, but his encouragement of gay marriage, and his mocking of other people who are frightened by this government, worries me that he has lost his way.

I pray he will get back on the right path quickly, because I do believe he has great potential to be one of the leaders we need.

I actually like Penn Jillette. Yes he's an atheist, but he doesn't "hate" religious people or religion. He just doesn't believe in God. I happen to agree with him on a lot of things. And he's a rare bird. A happy atheist. There are some, but most seem quite angry. Jillette would never take time out of his busy day to fight public displays of Nativity scenes.

He just says "that's nice for you, but it's not for me."

Then, as you say, we must respectfully agree to disagree (would that ALL Freepers engage in such.....). You’re suspect of Glenn; I like the guy. You agree with most of what he says; same here (not 100% in my case, either).

Here’s the difference, I think, in our views of him. I don’t think for two seconds the guy is motivated by money any more. He’s been flat broke numerous times (hell, most of his life), he was an alcoholic, etc....we’ve all heard the stories by now. Kudos to him for overcoming such obstacles. His story isn’t that different from Rush’s, frankly.

No, I think the difference is our perceptions of his heart. The man loves America; the vision, the ‘dream’, the ideal. He has HUGE respect for the founding fathers, warts and all. He reads voraciously and is very, very well educated (self educated). He thinks differently than most. He loves God.

Let me address the God thing briefly...and know in advance I’m a longtime evangelical Christian, and I think Mormons have some amazingly screwy ideas...if not outright apostate views.

That said, contrary to what a good friend and fellow FReeper FReepmailed me here a little while ago, we DO worship the same God. Mormons’ ideas on Jesus and His unique relationship to the Father (one and the same to us) are foreign and distasteful to us. I get all that. I’ve known many, many Mormons in my lifetime. They ARE Christian, they DO worship the same God as we do. It’s the rest I could wholly do without.

That said....that same FRiend suggested that Glenn’s visions, “teachings”, etc. are ill informed entirely by his Mormonism.

I completely disagree. His views are driven, molded by what I mentioned above: his views on America, her founding, her unique place in history, the people who made her work....her vision as the most amazing country ever conceived, founded by man. He gives God the credit...and so do I.

He sees threats to this great Republic, yes....and he gets the Hell beaten out of him by ALL sides for it (Left: “He’s a raving loon; nothing but a cheap conspiracy theorist”; Right: “He’s such a whiner and doom-and-gloom purveyor; sees the boogie man under every bed”).

He also happens to be right, and his track record on such things.....his track record on predictions of foreign and domestic events is nothing short of amazing. He calls ‘em as he sees ‘em, and he’s usually right. I do keep track. If he was a Wall Street trader he’d be a billionaire.

In sum, I think Glenn Beck is a good man who is a force for good. Screw the Mormonism thing....if he was a Jew, his attackers would be rightly accused of anti-Semitism. He’s a Mormon, so that must mean he’s fair game. Wrong.

We should support him, The Blaze, and his efforts because he has put untold millions into charity work (not others; his own....real efforts involving tens of thousands of people), building grassroots efforts (9/12 Project, among others), and truly UNITING Americans with a vision of hope for this country based on love, charity, etc....NOT violence.

People here on FR can disagree or hate his ties or his style or his chalkboard (I like the chalkboard thing; I’m a nerd and I love to learn....and he’s one hell of a teacher). I get that. Look at the heart, though, and you see a true American any one of us should be proud to belly up to the bar and share a drink with (if the man drank any more).

He is intellectually inconsistent, and always has been. There is always about 10% of what he says that contradicts the other 90%. I cannot look past that, and you cannot recognize it. It’s there to see if you want to.

No, I don’t see it. I’ve watched/listened to him for a while, but surely not every day, and sure as hell not hours per day (I have a very busy day job).

The man has multiple hours of radio and TV time to fill EVERY day. I don’t hold a slip here or there against him....or Rush....or Hannity. They’re human.

No, you have to look at the long term track record, and that is very clear to see. I don’t see the slightest bit of intellectual inconsistency....EXCEPT one issue that his stance truly managed to piss me off: questioning Obama’s eligibility. He dismissed the B.C. question entirely; I can’t and don’t and won’t.

I’ll give him a pass on that one; we agree on far too much else.

Like I said, you don’t see it. You don’t see the inconsistency with spending 50 minutes of a TV show exposing MARXIST in the Obama Administration, and then closing the show with a ten minute segment about how “this is not about Rs or Ds, or even about left or right.” You don’t see that?
(just one example)

Man, I feel sorry for you....

And no, Wilkow, nor Rush, nor Levin EVER do that. They may slip, but they don’t commit intellectual suicide.

Well, let’s just take a leap here and assume, for the sake of discussion, that I’m neither A) blind, B) a fawning fan-boy, or C) an idiot. Give me that, and let me proceed.

He’s right. It’s NOT about whether you are a Dim or a Pub. It’s not even as much about left vs. right per se’ (tactically, it sure is....think strategically).

No, it’s about POWER. There is damned little difference now between the two major Parties. What they say on campaign trails vs. what they actually do in D.C. are very, very different. Idealists get quickly compromised or quashed, etc., etc.

There are very powerful forces that want to see the U.S. destroyed; at a very minimum, to lose our unique superpower status. You know it, I know it....the uninformed masses haven’t a clue. They’re blind sheep being led to the shearing, then the slaughter.

These forces care about power, and power alone....power to control currencies (untold wealth), laws, populations (including quantity)....the works. They are better than us, you see; they know what is right and what will work because THEY are the masters; the overlords...or should be.

That’s what he’s talking about, and I damned sure agree with him. If you don’t see that....well, we’re simply doomed to disagree across the board.

He was the only one to really research and expose Obama and his background and connections. He went after the left’s money bags too, Soros. They hate him for that.

He seems to be trying to re-position himself as a Rino now (cultural Marxist, economic globalist) which he is calling “libertarian.”

You’re a fan boy. In context, he clearly was intellectually inconsistent, and you clearly refuse to see it. You are arguing with my very brief recount of what he said, and not the deep logical hole he dug himself in.

Many many do see it, but not you. Enjoy Glenn and your blinders.

Since you brought up the mormon thing.....mormonism is not about the Christian God.
The mormon god is NOT the God of the Bible.
mormons do not worship the same god as the Christian God.
Before you defend the mormon god, it might serve you to actually know what you are talking about.

The "God" of the LDS beleif system (Mormonism) used to be a man.

According to their "sacred" writings he attained godhood and was given a planet (earth) and numerous spirit wives to have sex with to populate earth.

Thdy are NOT Chistians and do NOT have the same God as Christians do.

Beck has done some good things, but he has a god that is not the God of the Bible.

Hold your fire. I’m not “defending Mormonism” in the slightest. I’ve never read The Book of Mormon, nor do I care to. I only know what I’ve learned through many conversations over the years with friends/acquaintances who are/were Mormons. Relax....jeez.

Right, I do beleive you are sincere.
However having experience with mormonISM since 1962, I can tell you that the words used by mormonism are the same as Christians but do NOT mean the same thing.
mormons as individuals maybe fine people, many in my mormon family are, however when they say (lds) god, they are NOT talking about the Biblical God (have references if you wish).
When they speak of (lds) jesus they are NOT talking about the Biblical Jesus (have reerences if you wish).
When they talk about (lds) salvation, they are NOT talking about Biblical Salvation (have references if you wish).
What mormons do is teach and preach on the allowed mormonism teaching (IE what sounds Christian) they DO NOT tell you real teachings or inner workings.
Actually, I beleive there are many mormons who actually DO NOT know what mormonism teaches, until they are so embroiled in mormoism it becomes hard to leave.
Leaving means shunning, possible loss of family, job, inner circle...ask some people on FR who lost spouses, and children when they became born-again Christians.
One cousin left and it did not end well, if you want the whole story freemail me.
Another walked away and they followed him asking every year to pay his tithe.
Lots of personal stories from me, hundreds more from FR former mormons and others.
Please, learn about mormonism.......you will then learn that what Beck is currently doing is colored by that.
Not in his early career, it is recent but unless you know mormonism you will not understand his motivation.
