Kids don’t like for their parents to behave like they and their friends do, period. Parents may think it’s cool and hip, but it’s definitely not. Same as trying to dress young when you are way too old for it. It’s embarrassing for the kids and they don’t know how to handle a mother that can’t control her partying-something that hopefully, she, as a mother, has taught her daughters not to do (too much of anyway). Makes them feel weird to see a parent behaving like an idiot.

My former sister-in-law was one of those who liked to trumpet that she was “the cool mom” to the kids. She loved going to her son’s football games because they gave her an opportunity to prance around on the sidelines with her belly button and her boobs hanging out. Sadly, her son has not turned out well.
