I run XP. My screen saver suddenly stopped working. I have checked the settings and all is as before, but screen saver does not engage even when I change the display.
Any ideas what is wrong?
Thanks.
Solution; Stop trying to save your screen .. it's done.
Windows XP screen saver or another screen saver?
What have I done now?
Is your mouse vibrating?
Dude, I got no clue. I predict soemthings been changed something and you’re not catching it.
Screen saver isn’t hardware controlled so nothing hardware wise should be broken? Have you installed a new graphics ard lately?
Try selecting screen saver to “none” or “blank”, shut-down and restart. For some reason, Windows likes to be rebooted; that often clears-up problems. I had the same problem w/ XP Pro and it worked. I now use Win-7 Pro and don’t use a screensaver anymore, just “blank”.
I run XP and have the same problem. My XP screen saver just stopped working. I re-set it a few times and nothing worked. I just gave up.
I realize this doesn’t help, but just wanted you to know you are not alone. =)
Blank(none) is better , I stopped using a screen saver way back when I had Win 95
Sounds like something got corrupted or you may have uninstalled it Should be very simple to reinstall or do a system restore point rollback and get it to work!
“Blank(none) is better “
Agreed.
Something is stopping it. Likely a program.

If you have LCD monitor, screen savers aren’t really necessary. Tip: If you do, just shut off your monitor when not in use to preserve longevity.
I’m forwarding this to Area 51. They might know what to do to help you.
my brother, who is a computer engineer, has this instruction sheet:
One: Give computer to twelve year old.
Two: say: Please, twelve year old, tell me how to fix my computer.
Three: Problem solved.
I always used to get my problems solved by asking my grandson, who is now in college, but more lately my granddaughter, who is 11, is starting to help me.
as for screen saver, go to control panel, and use the old fashioned version not the newfangled one. That will give you a screen where you can chose screensaver, how long you want it to stay on, and the background stuff.
oh yes: you also might want to check the part about saving power. Mine used to turn off quickly so I reset it.
