preppers biggest mistake is in planning to live apart from the community instead of rolling up their sleeves and pitching in to maintain the community.

What makes you think that preppers will do that? A television show? Or real-world experience with preppers?

Personally, I've cooked for neighbors when power was out after storms in the neighborhood because I had the equipment and skills, and quite a few of the neighbors are geriatics.

Prepping is about maintaining communities. God calls on us to be of service to others. I can't do that without being prepared, myself.

I’m hip. During Sandy, our neighborhood was without power for 8 days. After a few days, our neighbors started coming over in the evenings to sit by our fire to warm up.

We had awesome fireside chats.
