Todd Long Closing In On Alan Grayson (NEEDS BIG TIME SUPPORT)
Todd Long For Congress ^ | 11/4/2012

Posted on 11/04/2012 12:58:31 PM PST by My Favorite Headache

A poll out this morning shows Todd Long has gained another 2 points on Alan Grayson. This is truly a grass roots campaign for Long as Grayson is qualifying for his seat due to redistricting.

Todd was born in Arlington, Virginia. His interest in the federal government and national politics began early through his father’s career with the U.S. State Department and living just outside of Washington D.C.. Todd first moved to the Orlando area when he transferred from George Washington University (where he was their #1 tennis player as a sophomore) to play tennis for Rollins College in Winter Park. In 1986 he graduated from Rollins with a B.A. in Economics.

After earning his law degree at Wake Forest University, Todd returned to Orlando in 1989 and began his practice in commercial litigation and insurance defense with the firm of Drage, deBeaubien, Knight and Simmons. Throughout his legal career, Todd has tried many cases for insurance companies and injured victims.

In 2005, Todd became a small business owner and started his own law firm The Law Offices of Todd Long which grew to six lawyers and 20 employees. Due to his concern that the federal government was abandoning our Founding Fathers’ values and principles and bankrupting the nation, Todd began a conservative radio show named A Different Direction.

In 2007, Todd challenged four term incumbent Ric Keller in the Republican primary in Florida’s Eighth Congressional District and narrowly lost receiving 47% of the vote. Since the election, Todd devoted eight months to writing his book The Conservative Comeback and began hosting his radio show by the same name on 540AM WFLA.

By 2009, Todd was inspired to make a difference for his country and again threw his name into the hat for Florida’s Eighth Congressional District. After leading in the majority of straw polls, he came in second in the Republican primary to former state senator Daniel Webster.

After the 2010 election, Todd returned to radio and his personal injury law practice. His radio show can be heard in the Orlando area, Saturdays at 5pm on 660AM WORL.

Issues

Tax Reform: Our Tax Code is 80,000+ pages and growing… it’s too big, way too complicated and is designed for career politicians to hand out favors so they can stay in power. It’s counterproductive… it hurts job growth, small businesses & working Americans. It only benefits the largest of organizations with political influence, and illegal immigrants and drug dealers who pay no federal income taxes. For years, I have actively supported the FairTax (a national sales tax which eliminates all income taxes, payroll taxes, capital gains taxes, corporate taxes and estate taxes). The Fair Tax eliminates the IRS; takes power out of Washington D.C. and allows everyone to keep their whole paycheck. With the Fair Tax, America will become the best place in the world to start and grow a business… which means more jobs and higher wages. The FairTax will result in tremendous wealth creation and immediately make us competitive with China, India and other nations and bring our manufacturing sector back to life.

Special Interest Groups: I am against special favors for select groups i.e., Bail-outs, Corporate Welfare, Crony Capitalism and Earmarks. I am for equal rights and liberty for all. That is why I believe we need an ethical change in Washington, before we can expect positive change for most Americans. I am also in favor of term limits for congress to help end the motivation of congressman to hand out favors to special interest groups.

Energy Independence: We need to drive down the price of gas (almost $4.00 a gallon) and energy, and the burden it places on the average American family. America’s combined energy resources are, according to a new report from the Congressional Research Service (CSR), the largest on earth. We eclipse Saudi Arabia (3rd), China (4th) and Canada (6th) combined – and that’s without including America’s shale oil deposits and, in the future, the potentially astronomic impact of methane hydrates. We currently import approximately 50% of our energy resources from foreign countries costing hundreds of billions of dollars annually… in other words; we unnecessarily export American jobs and wealth.

It is outrageous that we will not take advantage of all of our natural gas and oil resources and equally outrageous that we would rather import dirty oil from our enemies and make them wealthy instead of using the much cleaner natural gas resources we have here at home! I’m in favor of using all of our own natural resources. We should also continue to pursue nuclear energy, solar wind and other alternative energy and implement when it makes sense.

Education Reform: The Department of Education has failed miserably and is a complete waste of resources that could be used to better educate our children and prepare them to start their own businesses and compete successfully in the 21st century global marketplace. I believe in charter schools and school choice. I also believe that we need to teach our children the values and limited government principles of our Founders, teach them economic truth and why free enterprise and a limited federal government resulted in America becoming so prosperous. Finally, all of our children should learn a specific craft, trade or profession when they leave high school or college so they are not stuck with a General Studies degree and $50,000 dollars of debt with no job when they graduate. Our high schools and colleges are not setting our youth up for success and opportunity which is easily fixed with the right leadership.

National Defense & Our Veterans: Like President Ronald Reagan, I believe in peace through strength and funding a strong military. I will support military action to make sure that Iran does not acquire a nuclear bomb and take the threat of the radical Islamic Jihadists seriously and know they must be defeated!

I also believe that we must do a much better job of providing for and taking care of our veterans, including making sure they are employed when they return home after serving us so heroically!

Orlando, FL – The recent article from the Washington Times highlights the distinct difference between Alan Grayson’s rhetoric since 2008 and startling claims launched by a former whistleblower client. Grayson has long claimed that he was a “defender of the taxpayer,” but in a complaint lodged with the IRS whistleblower program by Tom Ubl, a former client of Grayson, outlines how Grayson’s action were anything but in line with defending taxpayers.

His campaign centerpiece of fighting government waste in the form of an $8.9 million settlement was nullified and not enforced according to Ubl. Inflated rates charged by Grayson and his law partner Victor Kubli, a convicted felon, grossly violated the allowable rates set forth by the Department of Justice and were the major sticking point which led to the settlement being nullified.

“These accusations need to be answered.” Todd Long said. “Grayson likes to portray himself as a good steward of our tax dollars, but this case shows differently. During his tenure in Congress we saw him play fast and loose with our tax dollars giving us trillion dollars in deficits and no budgets. We need to know more from Alan Grayson on this matter.”

Latest polls have been Grayson 49 to 32 and 56 to 41 Grayson but others have shown 45 to 42. One that came out this morning showed Grayson 46 to 34. A lot of Independents are holding out on their decision as undecided.

They are trying to do a last min ad buy for radio tomorrow and election day on Spanish radio since the district is 60% Puerto Rican. Jeb Bush did a campaign stop for him yesterday as well.

It is not too late to help Todd Long beat the worst progressive liberal in the entire state of Florida Alan “Die Quickly” Grayson... Grayson supported Obamacare, ran one of the most negative campaigns every seen in Central Florida against now Congressman Dan Webster, and in generally is a crass, rude and offensive person - everything you have ever hated about left wing, progressive socialists.

The Tea Party Movement in Central Florida, including the largest in the region the West Orlando Tea Party, stands with Todd Long, supports him in his effort to defeat this demonic liberal and asks that you do all that you can to help push Todd Long over the finish line.

Send money... contact the campaign and ask what you can do to help!

The Republican party is doing nothing to support the Todd Long candidacy... They have abandoned this solid conservative candidate... They have given up this House seat... don’t let this happen.

Everything you said. The fact that Grayson is gonna get another shot through a different avenue is just horrid. The man is seriously a mental case. Any amount and any help anyone can send their way is totally needed.

Oh and I might add that the Florida RNC did nothing to help because Long IS a Tea Party Republican. Disgraceful.
