Canada has drawbacks like no true First Amendment rights and socialized healthcare and French secessionists in Quebec. Prime Minister Stephen Harper is a Conservative and the banking system is built on a stronger foundation. Mortgages are (and have been)granted the old fashioned way and there is no deduction for interest to synthetically boost home values (heck, I’m getting one-third back in tax relief - sure).
Canada and the UK are moving toward Private Medical Insurance (PMI) for better access to healthcare. Laws are changing in Alberta to allow healthcare alternatives like PMI after many instances of citizens getting care in the US and trying to charge the government because they couldn’t wait for treatment. In the UK, somewhere between 15-20% of Britons now have PMI.
Cities like Calgary and Edmonton are like taking the Wayback Machine to the 50’s and 60’s in the US. They still have throwbacks like milk and daily newspaper delivery.
