"The Big Broadcast is a Sunday night tradition for families throughout the WAMU listening area. Each week, Big Broadcast host Ed Walker offers listeners priceless recordings of popular radio programs from the '30s, '40s and '50s. Priceless, especially, for a man whose first sentence as a child was, 'Turn the radio on.' "

Sam Spade. .. "The Fairly Bright Caper".

One of my SS favorites. Who knew that in 1948, the concept of "branded parties" existed?

(Maybe I just live a sheltered life...)

Calvin Locke, I’m more sheltered than you, because I don’t know what “branded parties” means! :-/

Here's an interesting story about J. David Goldin, of RadioGOLDINdex fame: Amateur sleuth helps stop National Archives thefts

Hi, Vision! Yes, Halloween is in the airwaves!

We’re doing fine here. Keith just finished bottling two small batches of beer, one a dark stout and one a “Bavarian” style. It was time to bottle the beer, because it had fermented in the little kegs long enough.

Otherwise, the Saints won; Bama won, and we’re hanging in. Can’t believe the election is two weeks away!

Do you have any news? Everything going well up there?

It’s great that Mr. Goldin busted that loser guy! There are some scoundrels in this world.

That’s a great photograph of his old radios. We love the old radios.

Thanks for posting, Steel. I hope you’re doing well!

Yes, he’s an amazing fellow. Imagine the space it takes to display and store almost a thousand antique radios and all the tapes.

He’s dedicated.

"Branded" as in a trade-marked brand. In the SS story, iirc, a professional party thrower is hired to "produce" an engagement party to generate publicity for the society pages.

Stay ready for an October surprise by the Dems...this is the calm before the storm. They aren't going to lose without a big fight. This week should be dramatic.

The beer sounds good.

I'm on a bbq bender. Have a 3 day weekend. It started with burgers, then smoked a turkey, today it's brisket and ribs...I'm out of control...

You’re the Meat Meister, Vision! :-)

Keith smoked pork tenderloin yesterday evening. This evening it’s chicken to be smoked.
