I am assuming the most dangerous period is when first ‘on the scene’, so the basics to survive alone in the wild would be essential, to acclimate until ready to interact with the indigenous populace. Wouldn't want to be dropped int he middle of a village or town of 742AD. I would want to work my way slowly into the locale. Eventually, what is in my head would align me with 'The Church' or The Authorities, but not in any way a threat to their power.

Heh. I wonder how long a Freeper would really last in a world with Kings and such before they opened their mouth and said something that got them drawn-and-quartered? (Or whatever the punishment of that era was).
