I met Michael once. He was a bit of a smartass. So I was a smartass right back to him. He liked that.
...and if you liked that you’ll also like this...

Thanks for the link. I hadn’t heard of him (not surprising) but I was a big Gato Barbieri fan back in the day.
Cool. Thanks.
I used to wear a big hat, so of course people called me ‘Gato’.

Michael was a friend of mine, and I assure you that he was no smart ass. He was a humble, gentle, talented man who never wore airs.
When he was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome (a form of blood cancer) I joined the bone marrow registry. Sadly, I was not a match for him, but some day I may just be able to help someone who needs a bone marrow donation.
He was a brilliant musician, and I miss him.
I surely know what you mean. We were just a couple of guys messing with each other, before it hit him.
I have something some where in the stack by the Brecker Brothers.where is the bro
Pat played this song at Michael’s memorial service in NYC.
Thanks for sharing.

Pat and Michael also played on Joni Mitchell’s “Shadows and Light” Tour, along with Jaco and Lyle.

Wow, I didn’t know he died. I used to have 1 or 2 of The Brecker Brother’s LP’s back in the 70’s/80’s.
Outstanding! Thank you for that! Arturo’s good to go. Dave Weckl. (without reading the comments) I think that’s Bob Mintzer in the background.
