The rich get richer. “English” soccer is a farce. Barely a handful of world class English players, surrounded by masses of talented foreigners. The oil sheiks and wealthy Americans buying up English teams are doing so because of the marketing potential, not because of a love for the game or interest in developing English talent. As long as the seats are filled and shirts sold, they could care less if the English game continues to decline.
What happened to FC Rangers can happen very soon to teams like Manchester United and Manchester City.
I am afraid that we are about to see a lot of teams start to go under, like Portsmouth FC. And it won’t be limited to just English football. The spending and heavy debt loads cannot go on forever.
