When I was a kid in the 1950s, my grandparents cared for our oldest family member, a great great uncle who’d been with the 18th Arkansas Infantry Regiment. Several times I was the recipient of war stories from this civil war veteran. I never got to hear a Rebel Yell from him.

My wife’ grandma told us her uncles fought at the battle of Shiloh, but they were all dead by the time I met her grandma.
