An anti-gay letter urging Christians to vote for Mitt Romney that was printed today in The Springfield News-Leader has been confirmed by the newspaper as having been penned by Jane Pitt, mother of Brad Pitt.
The verification comes amid some confusion, as the Missouri newspaper first printed an editor's note denying any relation between the letter writer and movie star. That was later replaced with a second editor's note, reading, "To clear up earlier confusion, the News-Leader has verified the letter writer is the mother of actor Brad Pitt and local businessman Doug Pitt."
The letter -- itself a response to another opinion piece in the newspaper justifying Christians' rights to refuse to vote for Romney because he is a Mormon -- identifies Mrs. Pitt as "a Christian [who differs] with the Mormon religion."
But, Pitt continues, "any Christian should spend much time in prayer before refusing to vote for a family man with high morals, business experience, who is against abortion, and shares Christian conviction concerning homosexuality just because he is a Mormon."
Pitt goes on to write that "any Christian who does not vote or writes in a name is casting a vote for Romneys opponent, Barack Hussein Obama a man who sat in Jeremiah Wrights church for years, did not hold a public ceremony to mark the National Day of Prayer, and is a liberal who supports the killing of unborn babies and same-sex marriage."
Along with Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt has long been an outspoken champion of gay rights. Pitt once told Ellen DeGeneres, "Ive said that we would not be getting married until everyone in this country had the right to get married." The two nevertheless announced their engagement in April, after seven years and six children together.
In January, Pitt said of his mother in a cover profile in The Hollywood Reporter, "She's very, very loving -- very open, genuine, and it's hilarious because she always gets painted in the tabloids as a she-devil. There's not an ounce of malice in her. She wants everyone to be happy."
In the same story, the Moneyball star revealed his own support of Obama in the upcoming presidential election
I would change the title: Jane Pitt, Wiser Than Her Actor Son Brad Pitt, Pens Pro Traditional Marriage, Pro Romney Letter to Paper
this is not one of those leftist pretending to be right wingers in the effort to undermine the right?
Seems like the real power couple is John and Jane.
Many of these arguments can be made without the cover of Christianity. For example, consider noobie life. It’s a humanitarian issue as far as I’m concerned. Faith is great, but seriously, do we really need to rely on higher level thinking to protect the little ones? And homo love — it makes no sense to me whatsoever.
You go Jane!! Tell ‘em. This gal could be a FReeper. She is right on!
Newsflash Brad, they already have that right. R-Tard.

“”I have given much thought to Richard Stoeckers letter (Vote for Mormon against beliefs, June 15). I am also a Christian and differ with the Mormon religion.
But I think any Christian should spend much time in prayer before refusing to vote for a family man with high morals, business experience, who is against abortion, and shares Christian conviction concerning homosexuality just because he is a Mormon.
Any Christian who does not vote or writes in a name is casting a vote for Romneys opponent, Barack Hussein Obama a man who sat in Jeremiah Wrights church for years, did not hold a public ceremony to mark the National Day of Prayer, and is a liberal who supports the killing of unborn babies and same-sex marriage.
I hope all Christians give their vote prayerful consideration because voting is a sacred privilege and a serious responsibility.””

I guess anything could be possible, but she’s probably legit. I think Jon Voight is a genuine, passionate conservative too.
Thank You Mr’ Pitt.
It’s too bad your son is living amongst hedonistic Hollywood perverts and freaks and forgets the honest upbringing he most certainly got from a wise Christian mother.
He has bred 6 children without benefit of marriage. Why should he stand for gay marriage when he won’t marry the woman who has beared him children? He knows nothing of commitment therefore knows nothing of the life of two people married to each other.
But does he not know or is it the liberal society in which he lives? When you lie down with dogs, you come up with fleas.
It’s good to hear that she is a Christian, and she sounds like a good conservative.
That said, Mitt Romney is a known pathological liar. If he was indeed a Mormon “with high moral values” I’d reconsider. But he actually isn’t.
God Bless Mrs. Pitt and Jon Voight great Americans.
Interesting. The newspaper uses the term “anti-gay”, but simply calls the anti-morman letter a “response”.
More power to her. Missouri, I believe, is going to go big for the Republicans this election cycle. McCaskill is hiding out, and her cheerleading for Obamugabe has grown old with the voters.

Perhaps there is hope for Mr. Pitt...down the line somewhere. Pray for him. You know his Momma does.
That's anti-gay?
Well I suppose....
They won't be happy until we're all kissing their well-worn asses.
Really? How so? Known to whom? Some examples would be good, got any?
Oh, I get it it’s an anti-gay letter if you don’t want to endorse the homosexual lifestyle. Remember when they “just wanted to be left alone” now you have to accept and love their lifestyle and if you don’t you’re just hiding behind your religion and engaging in biogotry.
Poor Brad. Now he’ll have to publicly label his own mother an intolerant reactionary racist homophobe. If he hasn’t done so already.
Yep. And that's not so very long ago. But it has been dropped into a "memory hole."
