I admire your post and your attitude, but your problem is that the tax will likely be payroll deducted, just like SS and Medicare. Unless you’re working under the table, you won’t have a chance to opt out. Come to think of it, that’s just perfect...a lot of our Mexican friends (/s) probably work under the table and will get FREE healthcare without paying the #$%$%&#@ tax.

The government has another means of collecting this. The mechanism is already in place. When you are behind on your federally backed student loans or child support, the federal government monitors for any local, state or federal income tax refunds or credits in your name. The moment a state or federal income tax refund is issued to your name, it is routed to your “balance due”, be it child support or federal tax debt. The money is officially yours, and now it goes to your debt.
The government contractor that currently manages the software to do this for child support and student loans is reviewing the same functionality for the Obamacare “fees” or “fines”. Obamacare had a sop that the government cannot deduct money from your bank account. But they can take your tax refunds to pay for it.
