The big problem is going to be insurance....especially at the high school level. If insurance costs skyrocket, more and more schools will abandon football.

Yeah, and even if the insurance doesn’t the parents will. Really at this point if I were a parent I wouldn’t even consider letting my kid play football, I love the sport dearly but it’s a parental duty to not volunteer your kid for permanent brain damage.

I saw a high school kid (Scotty) take a hit on the field, run off and collapse. He died later of a brain aneurism. It destroyed the sport for me. That year I saw a letter from Joe Paterno who wrote that kids should not play tackle football until they are in high school.

It’s too rough. I got injured several times in football but only once in Rugby.

There is a easy way to reduce the injuries: get rid of the helmets and shoulder pads.
