Prayers. Although my mother is not as young as you, she has some of the same issues you describe and after 4 months is coming home after having an intensive rehab centered experience at a nursing home. Because it was rehab and didn’t exceed a certain number of days, her insurance picked up the tab. She will also be having a nurse visit 3x a week at home to make sure she’s doing what she needs to do to take care of herself. Sometimes we just forget what we need to do, and when they retrained many of her muscles, monitored her medications, and taught her certain techniques and how to make her bathroom more “user friendly” , she improved immensely. She still has a few days to go there and they say she’s now like having another nurse working there for free. She travels around in her wheelchair on her own to conserve on energy needed to walk each day to check on each patient! There are some patients your age where she is and she says she enjoys talking to them and they seem well adjusted. There is a 25 year old who was in a severe accident and is a quadriplegic. She loves him and says “if only I were 50 years younger!” My moms issues were physical, not mental, sounding like yours and they’ve really helped her and she feels useful too!

Oh, and on a lighter note my brother “enjoyed” seeing some of the girls that would be giving him a sponge bath were he there! He asked if you could request a certain nurse if he were to check in. They all just shook there heads at him!
