I didn’t watch the remake of “True Grit.” Actually, it was all I could do to watch the original. As a “swan song” for the Duke, it sucked. Not one of his better movies. IMHO. For what it’s worth...

Re: Willie Nelson. He was, is, and continues to be an unrepentant doper, although I don't think he came remotely close to his tax returns except for signing them (and even then, I'm not certain he was sober when he signed them). I think somebody else probably ripped off a lot of the money that was supposed to go to the feds.

However, his voice is distinctive, isn't it?

As for True Grit, the book was excellent. Of the two movie versions, the Coen Brothers' version is much more true to the book and is a good movie, in my opinion. The version with John Wayne was a comic book in cinema form (although God Bless John Wayne), in my opinion, compared to the Coen Brothers version. I think Glen Campbell's hair throughout the movie said it all. Or the fact that the Arkansas/Indiana Territory was shot in the Rocky Mountains for the John Wayne/Glen Campbell version.
