Thanks, that was comprehensive! DP mentioned something about the knot and the metal thingie, too. We’ll check the book: want to do it right.

I say go for everything he's supposed to have. Buy Service Stars for both his Cub Scouting and Boy Scouting tenure, with a gold backing piece for his Cub Scouting service and a green backing for his Boy Scouting service. Wear them side by side, centered 3/8" of an inch above the top of the top medal or knot (or pocket top) above the left-hand (rank insignia) pocket.

If he's earned Ad Altare Dei, then you'll have two devices on the purple and shiny silver square knot, and that medal. Does he have a Pope Pius XII or International Awareness medal?

If he's earned any of the Rosary Series or Footsteps of American Saints awards, then he can wear one on his right pocket as a temporary patch - or any other meaningful patch.

If his unit's won a Pope Paul VI Quality Unit Award, he should be wearing that (umm. I'm assuming you're Roman Catholic, not Eastern Catholic, because different Scouting awards apply).

I need to call a buddy of mine whom I've camped with in Scouting for over 15 years. He's the Chairman of Catholic Scouting in my Council and could let me know what else may be available for uniform wear, even on a rush basis, for items Bill may not even know he's already qualified for.

Talk me out of this. I’ve been approached about going back into the practice of law. Not that I really ‘practice law’ when I’m practicing law.
