My mother actually had a descented skunk as a pet when she was a little girl. Her father (my grandfather) was a zoology professor. To say that he was a little strange would be a gross understatement. The skunk actually patrolled the family garden and ate insects and small rodents, but had to be kept in the house once the produce ripened. Skunks are omnivorous and will eat almost anything.

No and if you have - I don’t want to know;;)
I managed to live many decades before experiencing skunk spray - thought a plane had emptied its toilet over the house!!!
The dogs came in and spread the good cheer - and no, tomato juice is not a good shampoo!!!!!!
But they are cute little varmints;)

I used skunk musk for years, to hide my scent while hunting. It really doesn’t bother me much, many things are worse.

That smell is pungent though;)
Coffee smells like diluted skunk odor. Very diluted skunk odor.

They should be grateful; the skunks will protect them & their town from the evil alien invaders!

Seriously, I had one set up shop under my woodshed one fall. I got rid of him by sprinkling the perimeter with human urine and cucumber gratings. Over the decades, I've trapped & killed a heck of a lot of verminous pests in our barns, shops, and wood sheds...but the skunks got live trapped & released elsewhere.
IF one is careful, they are easily transported & released without upsetting them to the point of spraying. Except for the scent (and possibility of rabies) they just don't do the kinds of damage rats, coons, squirrels, possums & porcupines do to structures & the stuff stored there in.
I laughed my head off at the sorrowful look one gave my wife one evening, when she opened the door, picked up the self-feeder, and told the "cat" she'd had enough, whether she thought so or not.
