Tim Tebow's Latest Miracle Was His Luckiest One Yet (Insane Luck or Divine intervention?)

Yes, Tim Tebow played great in the fourth quarter of his miracle comeback against the Bears yesterday

But let's not kid ourselves — Tebow and the Broncos got insanely lucky yesterday.

Here's why they won.

Marion Barber choked, twice. All the Bears running back had to do was fall down in bounds on 2nd down with Chicago up 10-7 and the Broncos unable to stop the clock with under two minutes left. If he simply falls over, Tebow gets the ball back deep in his own territory with less than 20 seconds left, and Denver loses.

Then in overtime, the Bears were a play or two away from bringing on Robbie Gould to kick the game-winning field goal, and Barber decides to dangle the ball away from his body and he gets stripped. If he's protecting that ball there rather than trying to bust a touchdown run, Denver loses.

The Bears thought it'd be a great idea to go into the ultra-prevent with five minutes left. The Chicago D was dominant for the first 55 minute of the game. But then they get up 10 points with five minute left, and they decide to play their safeties 30 yards off the ball. This lets Tebow check down to his wide-open running backs all the way down the field.

What is Chicago doing there? They dominated Tebow all game. But when they get a comfortable lead they decide to call off the dogs?

The thin mountain air made Tebow' job easier. The two field goals that won the Broncos the game were 59 yards and 51 yards.

I watched at my favorite watering hole yesterday, hardly a hangout for the devout, and the anti-Tebow remarks were reminiscent of a crucifixion. It was great to listen to the grumbling at the end though. Supposedly God works in mysterious ways so maybe He’s converting a few sinners. While I have difficulty believing that God even cares who wins a football game, Tebow sure is fun to watch.

I think the Broncos realize they can’t wait until the fourth quarter against the Pats.

The good news is that the Patriots’ defense is one of the weaker defenses the Broncos have faced in awhile, and if Denver’s D can keep New England’s offense under 30 points, I think Denver has got a great shot to win. I think Tebow will have his best game yet against New England.

59 yard field goal is amazing, cowboys choked at the end of their game >.<

And notice Marion Barber was the one that choked for Chicago....you can take the player out of Dallas, but you can't take Dallas out of the player.

Then the 2nd half and it was all Colts, still lost, but only 31-24.

Don't I know it! See my post 36. Pat's D has a way of making the most mediocre quarterback look like Johnny U, and Tebow (despite what the haters say) is NO mediocre QB. My point is simply that Denver will need more points than they have scored in their last three games combined to win.

Yes, losing last week on a Hail Mary pass at the end of the FIRST half is ridiculous.

Yes this was a lot of luck. But the old, reliable Prevent Defense came through again. I will never figure out why coaches love this guaranteed way to convert a win to a loss. How many times have wee seen this?

I am a Broncos fan and a Tebow fan. But let's get real. Most of the Broncos win streak has been built by beating flawed teams that have found ways to lose. What kind of coach can't figure out to take a knee to win a game?

The entire team has improved since Tebow took over, but especially the defense, which has kept the team in the game. The Broncos are famous for wearing down teams at home due to the elevation. The wins on the road are different. This team is playing hard for Tebow after giving up on Orton. The kicking game is also top quality. Tebow is a leader who has the team playing hard. As a passer, he is erratic.

We will get a better picture of Broncos strength next Sunday.

When Tebow came to Florida, he transformed that team...and he wasn’t even the starting QB his freshman year....but still, they don’t win the National Championship that year without him....he was already a leader of that football team, even as a non-starter.

While I fundamentally agree with that, nonetheless after this last Denver win I had to joke that obviously since Notre Dame honored Obama God has been looking for another team to root for! :-)

I’m tempted to call him ‘Moron’ Barber.

Playing for the Cowboys will drop your "Football IQ" about 20 points.

Luck - No
Divine intervention - No
Team effort - Yes

I think Tebow’s leadership has inspired the team as a whole to step up their level of play. Did they - as a team - give up being 10 points down and 2 minutes left - No. The defense did what it needed to do - force a turnover. The offense did what it needed to do - score, and the Special teams did what they needed to do - place the offense/defense in the best postion possible.

When all three elements come together - you win games. That seems to be the formula and it’s working.

I agree that leadership is his top quality.

I also agree with Tebow that God doesn’t care who wins football games. The idea that God would care is demeaning to the concept of God as a perfect Supreme Being.

Amazing stat. Tells the story too.

Wasn’t Tebow 19/21 on completions in the 4th quarter alone?

Not bad for a cat that can’t pass.

Urlacher called him ‘a pretty good running back’.

Today’s gotta hurt after saying something like that.

The dropped Bronco passes in that game were unbelievable. Tebow should have had 300 passing yards before the fourth quarter yesterday.

As for next week, the Patriots are vulnerable on defense. They were fortunate to hold on against the 4-9 Redskins and 0-13 Colts the last two games. The Patriots defense is full of holes right now and Tebow should be able to exploit them if his receivers can just hold on to the ball.

The big obstacle Tebow will have is overcoming the 30+ points that Brady & Co. are likely to put up against them.

I'm a Patriots fan but I won't be heartbroken if they fall to the Broncos. The Pats are virtually guaranteed a playoff spot anyway - not that I think they will go very deep into them unless they can fix their defense.

Tebow kind of reminds me of Tom Brady 10 years ago. It was 2001 when Brady became the Pats starting QB and led his team to a Super Bowl. Brady wasn't a superstar that first year and didn't put up great personal stats but his leadership ability was already apparent. I think Tebow is of the same mold.

I don’t believe God cares who wins a football game.

God is a Broncos fan.
