My money would be on the truck.

If I'd been driving it, I'd loved to have floored it.

If they don’t do something soon, they will have made a bigger mess for people trying to go to work than if they had let the occupiers be.

Even Ed Koch knew what to do with the riff raff.

Bloomberg is a moron who took months to do what should have been done in the first 48 hours.

“The Tompkins Square Park Riot occurred on August 6–August 7, 1988 in New York City’s Tompkins Square Park. Groups of “drug pushers, homeless people and young people known as ‘skinheads’” had largely taken over the East Village park, but the neighborhood was divided about what, if anything, should be done about it.[1] The local governing body, Manhattan Community Board 3, adopted a 1 a.m. curfew for the previously 24-hour park, in an attempt to bring it under control.[2] On July 31, a protest rally against the curfew saw several clashes between protesters and police.[3]

Another rally was held on August 6. The police charged a crowd of protesters, and a riot ensued. Bystanders, activists, police officers, neighborhood residents and journalists were caught up in the violence.[4] Despite a brief lull in the fighting, the mêlée continued until 6 a.m. the next day. Mayor Ed Koch temporarily rescinded the curfew. The neighborhood, previously divided over how to deal with the park, was unanimous in its condemnation of the heavy-handed actions of the police.[citation needed]

Over 100 complaints of police brutality were lodged following the riot. Much blame was laid on poor police handling, and the commander of the precinct in charge was deprived of office for a year. In an editorial entitled “Yes, a Police Riot”, The New York Times commended Commissioner Benjamin Ward and the New York Police Department for their candor in a report that confirmed what ubiquitous media images made clear: the NYPD were responsible for inciting a riot.[5]

One of the concerns of the local community had been that the park was a gathering place for drunken rock fans and their boisterous street parties. On November 7, 2004, about 1,000 people gathered in Tompkins Square Park to attend a concert by the punk band Leftöver Crack. The concert has since become a yearly ritual to mark the 1988 riots....

I watched what the PTB in Portland, OR did all weekend (live on TV on 4 channels), and think they had a great model.

Gin ‘em up, wear them out, then go in and take over.

Now, they have a legitimate reason to cite health problems in Zucotti Park..

I feel bad for the people who need to head to work in the next couple of hours. What a mess...

Is this going as well/the same as the clearing of the ones you watched?

Thanks for the information. I vaguely remember hearing about the crackhead riots there in the 80s.

Now, they’re threatening to shut down Broadway for rush hour...calling for people to get there from wherever they can.

It does cut in and out. Though it has been pretty good the last 10 minutes or so.

Cannot be a more idiotic position to put your body into, then sitting on the ground, with your hands grasped under you knees, daring a New York policeman to crack your skull open, just a couple of blocks from the ruins of the WTC.

These people need to go home to mommy and confess their sins.
