Had an ex get really pissed off when I told her a few things.

One way or the other, the man ALWAYS pays for sex in some way. It may be cash (for a hooker), dinner (for a sport f#$% date), time for a relationship and/ or emotional commitments, and little labors of love.

She thought that was completely cynical and wrong to even say. That's just realism in action.

The second part of the conversation really killed her when I said that a woman should calculate her "bill rate".

Essentially it boils down to this. Get a spreadsheet. Take ALL of the $$ that he pays to support you (bills, etc), all the $$ he spends dating you, and then assign dollar values to the other things (like hours he spends with you [use his salary / 2000], little things that make you all warm and happy (coffee on the nightstand, roses, cards, the little things that make love work [you as a woman decide the equivalent dollar value]) .... do that for a total of a month and come up with a number. Now subract all the hard dollars and time equivalents you spend on HIM.

THEN take the number of times you have sex with him and use that as the divisor. So ($$$ spent[him] - $$$ spent [you])/# of times = a woman's bill rate.

Most women in marginal relationships would be shocked at how low their number compares to a professional.

Yes it sounds cynical, yes it is a little cheapening to even consider, but wow does it put the sexual revolution into perspective.

Women's lib was the worst thing that ever happened to women's relationships ever.

It doesn’t sound very realistic to me. Women like sex, and women need sex in much the same way as men. More importantly, women invest time, commitment and as you said it, labors of love on relationships as well as men. Speaking as a man who’s been married for 20 years, if you both aren’t investing in the marriage, it won’t work.

The problem with theories like yours, and there are plenty from Lykiss to Hefner, is that they’re predicated on the idea that sex is a favor that women do for men.

Two things: no wonder she is your ex and if we did what you suggest my husband couldn’t afford me.
