These dancers look like the Rhythm Nation was taken over by rogue bmx bikers.
Ummm...were the judges listening to the same thing as me, beacuse that sucked.
Lots of distraction to offset the voices.
Can’t believe Simons fluff on their performance.
Dressed all in black with ankle-deep fog swirling around the stage. His song is a slowed-down version of Christina Peri's "Jar of Hearts". They could have picked a better song, but it's okay.
L.A.: I liked you before, but I really dig your after.
Paula: [liked it]
Simon: That was incredible. It's like you wrote the song! Absolutely stunning. You took a risk and it paid off.
Nicole: I feel like a proud mom, but we're the same age so that doesn't work. (laughs) [loved him, proud of him, etc.]
They’re really milking this “mistake”. Like it wasn’t planned months ahead of time.
“Must you talk, Elaine? Desperado is on.”
She sings "Desperado". It starts out beautifully, but for some reason the arrangment has been changed to make the last half sound more like a Gospel song. Melanie carries it well though.
For the performance:
For almost butchering an Eagles song:
L.A.: Nice song choice.
Nicole: There is no limit to what you and your voice can do.
Paula: You look beautiful. Your voice is like fine china, only brought out for the best occasions.
Simon: We never cleared that song before, so it was touch and go. I never realized how good you are! You are the one to beat, trust me.
“Must you talk, Elaine? They’re explaining the X Factor app!” ;)
He raps his own original song. Deep meaningful lyrics--it's basically about how great Astro is. Giant letters spell out A S T R O on the stage--to match his ego, I guess.
Hay-ho, hay-ho! Waiting for this to be over hay-ho, hay-ho.
Nicole: You know how to get the party started right. So talented.
Paula: You march to the beat of your own drum.
Simon: You are a real little star. Your ego is getting bigger, but that's what you need. You need that confidence.
L.A.: Each week you get better and better.
