After lengthy introductions that take up the first 10 minutes of the show, we see the first performer: A 13 year old girl named Rachel.

Simon asks her what she would do with 5 million dollars.

Rachel: "Our family has like no money." (laughs) She adds that 6 people live in her two bedroom house. "I'm a girl--I need my own bathroom!"

She's very good, very comfortable on stage.

The judges love her.

Simon: I think we're going to be hearing a lot about you.

Each singer/group needs 3 out of 4 yes votes from the judges to advance. She sweeps the table.

Simon: Get ready for a new bathroom.

Backstage, Rachel says to her mom: Did you see that? Did you see that? Did you see that?

Sidenote: The ill-fated judge Cheryl Cole is seated at the table for these auditions. From what I read she only lasted two shows before being replaced by Scherzinger.

It appears they may show some sort of commotion involving her later on. Producers and assistants swarm the judges table and Simon says "This isn't working". Drama.
