Great little read by C.B. Picco a conservative public school teacher discussing the failure of American Public Schools and Society--how they are interconnected. Great read, places the blame on political correctness, a failing system of tenure, lack of discipline in the school, parents, says, "If it takes a village to raise a child then it also takes a village to raise an idiot!" and we are raising a lot of idiots. Really great read. I enjoyed it!

...heard another disturbing account last week...
Average cost for a student at a Catholic school 9,000 per student.
Asbury Park NJ, public school system, one of the worst in the US..average school cost per student per year, $30,000...AND they say they need more.

In this book, Picco talks about the coming revolution in this country because of the instant gratification, entitlement society—debt is unattainable and there will be an economic breaking point not unlike the economic breaking point in the Soviet Union...and the fallout will lead us back to what the framers had in mind of limited government, self sufficiency etc..

Well, there is some hope. All is not lost. Check out this charter school in Colorado:

http://www.ridgeviewclassical.com/

A school that is very different from the progressive education most kids receive today, and the good part is that these schools are popping up all over the place, usually as charters and sometimes founded by groups of parents who want something better for their kids.

You can tell a lot about the culture of the local public school just by checking out their reading lists.

In Texas, the specter of harsh discipline has been especially clear.

Here, police issue tickets: Class C misdemeanor citations for offensive language, class disruption, schoolyard fights. Thousands of students land in court, with fines of up to $500. Students with outstanding tickets may be arrested after age 17.
