I always thought William Shatner wasn’t a very good actor, that whole Star Trek crew was lucky to get their parts and even luckier to have the fan base grow.

Gene Roddenberry was lucky nobody appropriated the ideas from Forbidden Planet before he did. It's weird though, considering that Star Trek wasn't successful until after it was cancelled.

“Forbidden Planet” was the best of all those 1950’s flying saucer and sci fi movies. I watched it recently and it still holds up well, even the special effects age believable and they were not using special effects to try and make a movie interesting.

They went back further and used a beautiful girl wearing not much clothes. Anne Francis really was a beauty. The story or plot was also much better than average. Also lots of actors whose faces would become more familiar later.

Even better than “Invaders From Mars”.
