We cried, we ate, we cried, we ate. She's been a very good pig since she's been in the freezer.

I had fresh ham from the yard, a zuchinni with onions (from the garden) and rice on the plates tonight. Of course, you can't have something like that without gravy made from the ham juices and a little bit of coffee. And why have great gravy, without home-made biscuits? Just wouldn't be right.

So the only major things I didn't grow on the property were the rice and the flour (coffee, salt, baking powders, &ct come from the store, too).

And I'm working on that.

(and notice how I didn’t say anything about how often your neighbor pops up in conversation?)

A survivalist food website I know of talks about having 100 lb sacks of wheat and grinding flour. Whoa...

And I can't figure out how one could be self-sustaining on salt or coffee etc.

I'm off to catch up on the thread, we are at a stopping point for a couple of days.
