Unfortunately, that’s a picture that pre-dates his illness. He’s a little ragged from his ordeal. His front paws were shaved for the IVs and he has a French Poodle look going on there. However, it’s good to have him home and I’m sure he’ll be back to being his handsome, fluffy self in no time.

This is a beautiful story. Especially at Easter when we are all thinking about our Lord being resurrected. I'm not saying one is connected to the other but it's good to know that there are rebirth stories everywhere.

I'm so happy for you and Wilby! He is so beautiful!

I’m happy for you and your intrepid little friend. May he live long.

It seems the “cat scan” was timely. :)

Is he an old kitty, other health problems?

from the opening paragraph: "A little less than a year ago... Wilby was still in his birth sac"

Sometimes it helps to read before posting.

With today being Easter and for both my cat and the kitty rescues over at the no-kill shelter I volunteer at, which I will stop by for a little bit tomorrow, treating and will treat them to both catnip and Pounce treats. Do the same for your Wilby, he will THANK you for it. :)=^..^=

Happy Easter!:)=^..^=

I apologize for my lateness to this kitteh thread.

I would be glad to pray for your little kitteh.

Looks part Maine Coon /Tabby from what I see.

Good luck and prayers up; what a beauty!

As an owner of many, many cats past and present, they all leave a positive place in our souls, we just have to be worthy of their presence.

I’ve often wondered why God has Cats and Dogs as our companions. I don’t remember who said it, it might have been Heinlein but he said you could tell a lot about a person by how they treat Cats and other animals and after over 40 years, I agree. I’ve gone into folk’s houses and the first thing I do is pick up their cat. Most of the times they’re shocked because they can’t pick up their cat or they’ve never seen their cat respond to a stranger. I must be a cat whisperer

I always laugh at people who don’t like cats, it’s obvious they’re scared of them. As if a five to ten pound fur-ball is going to hurt them. They just don’t understand that the purring and affectionate cat becomes all teeth and claws after they get a little too much stimulation from petting. Both of my hands and arms are covered with fresh and not so fresh cat scratches and bites and it always makes me laugh when they go into attack mode even when they draw blood. It’s their nature.

Back to your kitteh, please keep us updated.

I also have some unfortunate advice you might not want to read.

*************************************************************

I had a dog who got sick from eating something and required surgery to get the bones out. Unfortunately, he developed another far more dangerous illness and out of our human selfishness, we kept him alive for far to long. Even when I took him to the vet the last time, his ears were up and he was happy even though we could tell he was miserable most of the time. I still miss them all.

God must look after them.

AWESOME! I responded before I read the whole thread. I am happy for you and your kitteh.

He looks like a pure Maine Coon from the photo in post 51.
May you have many years if happiness. If you only have one kitteh, get another one, it makes a difference. Of course you could end up as the crazy cat guy like me but hey, I like cats more than people.

The complete results on his spinal fluid analysis has not come back, yet. The Easter holiday has delayed the reporting. My hope is it was a bacterial infection and it was knocked out by the aggressive treatment he got through the IV medicines. There were proteins in the spina fluid. Hopefully, they do not come back as the type indicating FIP.

For the time being, he is pretty much the cat he always was. The anti-seizure medicine slows him down a bit, but he is alert, playful, and has a good appetite. I know he's improved, as he's back "on station" in the window, keeping an eye out for birds.

Just keeping my fingers crossed about the long term prognosis.

I don’t want to get your hopes up but if it was FIP, he’d already be gone and the vet probably would have kept him isolated since it’s so infectious.

I’ve had cats with FELV ( a different but just as deadly a disease) that lived normal, long lifetimes living with other cats, who never got the infection. I’ve got one now, I just hope his luck holds out that he doesn’t manifest the symptoms of the disease and that the other kittehs don’t get it as well. (knock on wood).

Anyway, I’m glad he’s still around and as someone previously mentioned, Easter is probably the best day for this kind of news.

Along with prayers, I’ll keep my fingers crossed as well.

Just remembering all the kittehs I’ve had and lost makes my monitor blurry for some reason.
