Me - two weeks. Almost everyone I know has been sick over the past few weeks. Lingering cough for those who have “recovered”.
I’ve had a bitch of a cough since Thanksgiving...my wife almost as long.
I’m a smoker, but I’ve never had one this long. More people than usual at work have coughs.
I was thinking I’ve maybe got whooping cough.
I don’t take flu shots.
me. one week nearly. i am never sick. had my flu shot too. just about everyone i know has had this thing!
I had it from Thanksgiving weekend through mid-January. I’ve never coughed so much in my life.
This is my box of Kleenex. There are many like it but this one is mine.
I teach and coach, and no I am not a member of any damn union. I have had players and students out with the flu. No conspiracy here. My son, who is in the same school where I teach had the flu shot and he is healthy as a horse. It is the flu. Just thank the Lord that it is not the same strain that we had in 1917-1918.
I’ve had an irritating cough....but, I think it’s the new kitten! On the other had...lots of people around me keep getting sick...but, it IS flu season...take your Vitamin D3 folks!!!
Talked to a friend from southern Illinois & she said she is at 5 weeks with it, calling it more of a sinus infection but she also is tired & weak from it.
My chiropractor told me she has patients who have had it 6 weeks or more and on different meds, none have helped much.
Everyone I know has been sick with this thing. It’s over two weeks you are ill. You think you are better, then you suddenly relapse. The relapse hits as hard as the first wave, in some cases harder.
It seems to be marked by a cough or bronchitis. Some people have huge amounts of phlegm. It also seems very virulent - races like wildfire. You can stop over someone’s house, walk right back out the door, and it seems in a few days you’ve got it.
I know someone who it hit so hard the first day he ended up unconcious on the floor. They had to call 911. Young kid.
Everybody started getting sick about the same time the birds started dropping dead — about two weeks before the USDA admitted it had dumped some stuff into the clouds to kill the birds.
Temperature was 104 at one point and I was out of work for 5 days even after taking tami-flu right away.
This was the worst case of flu ever and I catch it almost every year due to (probably) the 2 "crumb-crunchers" running around here at home. One would think a simple yearly shot would be in order yet I continue to resist.
As for the conspiracy theory - in the height of my symptoms and being heavily medicated, I assumed that my wife was poisoning me but the bio-attack you mention is plausible.
Or it could be that I just have small children at home and also fly for work frequently - how can anybody really be sure? :)
One of my customers went to the Doc in January, as she had been ill and had the lingering cough. He said around the office they were calling it the “90-day cough.” Just some FYI to the posters who were talking about coughing since Thanksgiving...you’ve got about another week to go.
Almost zero are sick where I live outside of Portland, OR, and that includes my kids and their classmates in elementary school. Classes have been 90% or more full all year.
Knocking on wood...
My two 20something both caught it. The oldest is still horse after three weeks. Fever, chills - yuck.
Hawaii Big Island. Epidemic of either: gastro-illness like food poisoning (but it isn’t) lasting a few days - but much more prevalent is the 3-6 week cough. I had it 5 weeks and it is the worst one of my adult life (I’m 59).
Yes, I’m sure of it.
In Pennsylvania here. My husband had a cold, seemed to subside about 2 weeks ago. Came home yesterday, practically crawled in the door, felt achey from head to toe, he said everything hurt. 99.9 temperature, went to bed early. Left for work today a few minutes ago, didn’t seem up to snuff but said he was okay, I’m doubtful. Will see how he is this afternoon.
My sister in Tennessee and husband, and some grown kids all had it. She mentioned the green phlegm.
I cannot get sick, I care for my mother who lives with us, she has COPD & emphysema, not doing well, the flu would surely put her in the hospital or worse.
Got mine on New Years Eve at friend’s house. He had a new puppy which I played with. Washed my hands (perhaps not well enough), then ate. Got a sore throat almost instantly. The next day, developed a cough that lasted to Feb 8 or so. Late in Jan, the wife got hit badly - 2 days off work (which hasn’t happened in 10 years - and a 102 fever. Her’s only lasted a week, but, as with mine, it was severe coughing. The owner of my radio show gave me a cough drop yesterday - as I’m guessing he’s tired of hearing me clear my throat chokes. Ha! Anyway, 6 plus weeks? This is beyond weird.
