DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. -- A DeKalb County woman was traumatized after she said she accidentally invited two strangers into her home during an attempted robbery.
Her home is protected by two pit bulls and surveillance cameras, but she said she was unprepared when two would-be robbers dressed as police officers stopped by.
Youre violating someones trust and getting their guard down by saying youre a police officer, the victim told Channel 2s Amanda Cook.
When a man and woman showed up wearing fake police badges, she let them into her home. But the pair seemed to get nervous about the womans pit bulls. She said they even threatened to handcuff her if the dogs were not put away.
When her boyfriend took the dogs outside, he noticed that their car had paper tags. Inside the car, an accomplice was waiting for the pair.
The woman chased the two out of her home and called real DeKalb police. She said she hopes her story will serve as a warning to others that might be just as trusting.

The dogs and the boyfriend have good noses.
To prove they were real cops they would have shot the dogs first.
NEVER let cops inside your home without a warrant.
To prove they were real cops they would have shot the dogs first.
If they were REAL Atlanta cops, they would have shot the homeowner first.
Did it not too long ago
Why?
Was in Officer Shaniqua and Officer D’anferny?
Real cops don’t wear FUBU.
Didn’t know about that one ... but makes sense. OTOH I’ve read so many sad stories about cops showing up at a homeowners house and the first thing they did was shoot the dog ... one instance they chased the dog all through the house, found it hiding under a bed and shot it. Was the home of the town mayor .....
I’ll just drive down to the station and surrender to the cop on the left. In Atlanta. It might take a day or two I’m in CO.
That costume is soooo gay!
If they ever show up unexpectedly, I always call the dispatcher to verify whether or not they’re supposed to be there.
They sometimes get irritated, but they do understand.
And if you’ve been a naughty boy she just might have to cuff you . . . . :-))
I have committed no crimes. But if I have to...
LOL!
(1) Don’t let cops in without a warrant unless you called them.
(2) Know what a real warrant looks like. Most people have no idea.
This just illustrates that you should never *invite* the police into your home; if they want in badly enough then they should have a warrant.
What does a warrant look like?
They very from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. To be valid, they must contain (1) some indication of what they are searching for and/or why they are searching and (2) the identity and signature of a judge or magistrate.
