I’m happy for the Chileans if they all get rescued, which looks like it’s going to happen. Very rare that something good happens after a mine disaster.

First, CNN and PMSNBC both covered the Chilean miner rescue all nite long, live. Fox only covered it live until midnite, and then kept repeating their earlier rescue stuff over and over for the rest of th nite/early morning hours, until 5 a.m when they went live again. Both CNN and PMSNBC were live with no repeats. I thought it bad form that Fox inflicted reruns of the rescue on their audience from midnite on. So I switched to the other two channels who were both doing a much better job of coverage. As to replacing politics, I know Freepers live and breathe it, but there is a big world out there of non-political types who are not junkies like we are. Actually, I am finding it to be a refreshing break from the constant (and repetitive) commentary on the races. One nite off from it doesn’t break my heart, and I love seeing the reactions of the miners as each is pulled up to see the light of day for the first time in a long time of living underground in a coal mine.
