I've just noticed that text in the post time for thread comments.
Is it part of a new forum software upgrade? I don't think I remember seeing it before now.
Pacific on mine. I add three hours. I’m in Fl.
Read the source, Luke.

Mine says:

Which agrees with local time, EDT = GMT-4.
I thought this forum was going to convert to mean solar time in Mecca, Insha’Allah
I’d just settle for the time being correct. Hasn’t been since the last FR meltdown.
For those in Florida that might be near hanging chads, are you running XP, Vista, Windows 7, MacOS, Linux, VAXos, SUNOS, Solaris on a Sun 2, CPM on a DEC, or something exotic?

Using Google Chrome? That will show GMT
The time is always correct. And always accurate.
But the measurement may not be the same as you get from NIST with proper protocols.
And what does it matter? You using FR to do real time milli-second life support functions?
Accuracy has it's place. If you need time that agrees with the ISO standard, don't rely on FR.
Otherwise, folks might think you were pretty up-tight and not tightly wrapped.

I’m using the Google Chrome browser on Windows 7 starter.
I'm sure freepers are much more informed than that.

What I meant by that blunt statement of fact was that some non-technical types were seduced by the dark side into buying into browsing software with certain useful features. Software that blocks some things you won't be allowed to see.

LOL! Good timing!
I just bought a new net book and IE was too slow so I thought I'd try Chrome. I've used FF or Mozilla variants for years but thought I'd try something different
I guess it's the cause of the time text.
I use it on the work laptop. It’s the recommended browser for some of the sites used for my job.
My sticking point was that I wanted AdBlock like on FF and Chrome allows extensions now including Adblock.
This kind of thing only happens to “average FReepers”. The rest of us get the real time.
It is not just a few seconds. I’m posting this at 8:00 EDT 5:00 PDT.
It's a very long story. From the time Google announced it and through the alpha and beta tests, there were millions of comments on thousands of boards.
Use a non-google search engine and look for them (in NNTP files) if you want details.
Basically, it boils down to Chrome being a tool that controls content, offers some cool features, and has massive holes.
NSA did a better job with their 'secure linux'. And nobody uses that either.

If you have a sked with me on 20 meters, I'll be there a half hour before, tune the rig, go get coffee, and turn up the volume so I can hear the abc de xyz. In case our clocks aren't exactly correct.
Also not a critical app.
Timing fuse cords on nukes? I want cesium decay precision.
Accuracy is fine. For the application.

I didn't complain about anything. Pull your panties out of your crack and settle down.
