Go to your pings page. There, select the New Pings tab. The hit Mark All Read. This would be my suggestion as well. Don't even bother with the "All Pings" tab unless you want full history, but you can at least keep the "New Pings" cleared by hitting "Mark All Read" on occasion.
As for the rest of you smart alecks, the poster asks a series question, and all they get in return is a hugh number of sarcastic posts.
