Ok, Freepers. Here is something I do not get.
Mila Kunis and her family immigrate from the USSR (Ukraine) when she is in 2nd grade, and she has this to say about it?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22rEg0OJa60
She criticizes George Bush for cutting after school programs.
She says that she doesn't think people should own guns.
Seriously, what the hell? How do you come from the USSR to the most free country on the planet and then talk this way?
I really need an explanation because I don't understand how this is possible. I mean, Americans may not appreciate their freedoms because they've never known anything else. But if you come from the USSR with $250 for a family of 6, and now you're a Hollywood starlet, don't you think you'd be approaching this differently?
Someone please explain!
Jump ahead to 3:55 in the video to see her talk about guns. Absurd.
You go to Hollyweird, you get brainwashed (or if you don’t espouse the far-left party line, you find yourself swiftly unemployed). Mila would have no substantial memory of what it was like to live under the Soviet Empire anyway, given that she was a small child when it broke apart.
TKP - Thread Killing Post. Why? Because you said all that needed said in the first response, and you said it well!
More of an innocent ditz if anything, she merely observed that the after-school program she was in was terminated after Bush took office, although how a local school districts afterschool programs would have been directly dictated by the White House is beyond me.
It sounded like Ellen knew a thing or two about shooting, we all know about Steven Spielberg’s gun collection, maybe she has a few?
She did have some good stories about growing up a poor immigrant and being discovered by a talent scout.
Beats me. I had a friend immigrate from the Ukraine in the Soviet Union days, and the first thing he wanted upon getting his citizenship was a Winchester like John Wayne used.
Um, because it is a free country?
With those beautiful lips of hers that's how.
Like most on the left, and especially in media and entertainment, you don’t think, you feel. It takes effort to understand where we came from and how we got here. Quite frankly, the entertainers have “better” things to do. If you are reading lines and attending fashionable parties with other liberals, your “values” will reflect your environment.
I had entertainment clients on both coasts. When they found out I had a concealed permit and lived in Texas, you would think I was a child molestor, serial killer and club baby seals on the weekend for fun. I tried to explain the 2nd Amendment and what it means to them to no avail. I weep for my country because of the influence these people have on it through TV, movies and Internet.
Its simply the brainwashing by popular culture and 60 years of public school indoctrination. Take the public out of schools and drastically scale back government, within a generation, Hollywood will start reflecting more Conservative values. Until then, vote with your $$$. Don’t see their films, watch their TV shows, or support their sponsors. Don’t give them a celebrity platform to demonstrate their ignorance.
As a fan of the 70's Show I remember a great scene that had dialogue that could be applied a million-fold. Hyde, in trying to get Kunis' character Jackie to quit trying to "hook up" with him, says: "You know what you're problem is? You're really cute so nobody's ever told you to shut your pie hole." Jackie's response: "Wait a second. You think I'm cute?"
Mila - stick to the acting and give up trying to make political points especially when you are being dishonest by making up a personal spin to justify them.
if you spend almost all of your waking hours from age 14 onwards in the company of whiny socialist twits then it requires an unusual independence of mind to resist or break out of the brainwashing cult.....
it would be even more extraordinary for anyone who looks as she does i.e., “hot” to develop “an unusual independence of mind” since that is not what is ever going to be encouraged or rewarded for her acting life.....
“You know what you’re problem is? You’re really cute so nobody’s ever told you to shut your pie hole.”
needs to be said to almost every Hollyweird celebrity
“although how a local school districts afterschool programs would have been directly dictated by the White House is beyond me.”
One of the things I have observed, is when people come from other countries to the US they are either totally confused about or terribly thankful for our freedoms.
She has heard so much about Bush being a “tyrant”, she probably thinks he is one - but her definition of tyrant is probably quite different.
I remember a soldier in Iraq, after the fall of Saddam, said that locals kept coming up to him and asking if they could start a business or a school. It seemed to confuse them they didn’t need the soldier’s permission to start a school.
Michael Kelso: I don't see why you can't serve us our food,
Frank. We are paying customers, you know.
Frank: Hey, I didn't lose a leg in Vietnam so I can serve some hot dogs to teenagers.
Michael Kelso: You have both of your legs, Frank.
Frank: Like I said, I did not lose a leg in Vietnam!
Remember, in order to receive an Academy Award, Emmy, Pulitzer, or any other award, you must first publicly parrot the Marxist talking points.
(family guy reference)
On Tuesday and Thursday every week my grandson has ROTC drill until 5PM. The high school is open and supervised, lots of kids doing different things. No, they don't have midnight basketball, we figure the kids should be at home and in bed before then instead of sleeping in class.
She's upset about after school programs ending. In other words, though rich herself, she's upset about people who make $20,000 a year not being forced at gunpoint to contribute to a charity she favors.
I wonder what percentage of her income goes to charity? I also wonder if she'd like to be compelled to give to some politically incorrect charities that I like? I guess my charities matter less because I'm not a TV star.
