Truth Stripped Naked

Warming: As protesters pose sans clothing on an Alpine glacier, a new study documents how puny man’s effect on climate is and how futile are attempts to change it.

Hundreds of people recently posed naked on Switzerland’s Aletsch glacier as part of a Greenpeace campaign to raise awareness of global warming. SUVs are said to be causing the Aletsch and other glaciers to recede. But glaciers historically have advanced and receded, like the ones that gouged out the Great Lakes before they, too, receded without human intervention.

A new study accepted for publication in the peer-reviewed Journal of Geophysical Letters debunks the greenies’ climate hysteria and the political pretext for draconian restrictions on our economy that have become so popular with environmentalists and grandstanding politicians.

“Anthropogenic (man-made) global warming bites the dust,” said astronomer Ian Wilson after reviewing the study, the fruits of a project called “Heat Capacity, Time Constant, and Sensitivity of Earth’s Climate System.” In a letter to the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, Wilson said: “Effectively this (new study) means that the global economy will spend trillions of dollars trying to avoid a warming of (about) 1.0 Kelvin by 2100 A.D.”

Climatology pioneer Reid Bryson, founding chairman of the department of meteorology at the University of Wisconsin, said the new study shows “you can go outside and spit and have the same effect as doubling carbon dioxide.”

Bryson agrees the Earth’s temperature is rising but says man has little to do with it. “Of course it’s going up,” he said. “It has gone up since the early 1800s, because we’re coming out of the Little Ice Age, not because we’re putting more carbon dioxide into the air.”

Another of Al Gore’s climate change “deniers” is Robert Giegengack, chairman of the department of earth and environmental science at the University of Pennsylvania. “In terms of (global warming’s) capacity to cause the human species harm,” he said, “I don’t think it makes it into the top 10.”

Of Gore’s claim that temperatures are increasing solely because man-made CO2 is trapping the sun’s heat, Giegengack said: “That’s plain wrong. . . . It’s a natural interplay. As temperature rises, CO2 rises, and vice versa. It’s hard for us to say CO2 drives temperature. It’s easier to say temperature drives CO2.”

The computer models greenies use are part of the problem.

They magnify man’s impact while downplaying natural processes.

U.N. scientist Jim Renwick recently conceded that climate models do not account for the natural variability, and so are not reliable.

In a study published this month in the journal Science, U.K. researchers said:

“A common criticism of global climate models . . . has been that they only include factors such as solar radiation, atmospheric aerosols and greenhouse gases, which are affected by changes outside the climate system, (while neglecting) internal climate change variability that arises from natural changes from within the system, like El Nino, fluctuations in ocean circulation and anomalies in ocean heat content.”

In his new book, “The Assault on Reason,” Gore, like Greenpeace and others, blames man-made warming for glaciers melting in places like Africa’s Mount Kilimanjaro.

But according to the November 2003 issue of Nature magazine, “Although it’s tempting to blame the ice loss on global warming, researchers think that deforestation of the mountain’s foothills is the more likely culprit.”

As the article notes: “Without the forest’s humidity, previously moisture-laden winds blew dry. No longer replenished with water, the ice is evaporating in the strong equatorial sunshine.”

It’s easy to blame everything this side of the common cold on global warming, but sometimes true scientists look deeper.

It’s no surprise that environmentalists would resort to soft porn to make their case, since scientific arguments and evidence aren’t working.

One thing that won’t be denied by climate change deniers is that global warming emperors indeed have no clothes.

Naked Naga saints to use Kumbha Mela to campaign against global warming--By Michael Sheridan Tuesday, January 5th 2010, 7:22 PM

Naga Sadhus are using the upcoming gathering of Hindus in India as a means to promoting a campaign against global warming.

When thousands of naked Hindus speak, will the world listen?

That's what the Naga Sadhus hope will happen starting later this month, when they spread their anti-global warming message during Kumbha Mela, the largest gathering of Hindus in the world.

The massive religious event in India is being used by the order, famous for their lack of clothing and coating their bodies in a layer of ash, in order to promote living green.

"Since the Kumbh Mela is the largest spiritual gathering, we have decided to do our bit to save the planet from global warming," said Shri Soham Baba, Mahamandalesvara of Juna Akhara, said to be the commander-in-chief of the Naga saints, according to reports.

"There will be a huge presence of international communities and press during the fair," he added. "We'll utilize the occasion to generate a 'save the planet' campaign worldwide."

Their anti-global warming campaign will reportedly include signs with statements such as 'Stop Global Warming, Save the Himalayas' written in diferent languages. There will also be a photo exhibition created by the Naga that they believe illustrate the effects of climate change.

Thousands of Hindus are expected to attend the pilgramage, which attracts faithful from all over India, as well as the world. It takes place four times every 12 years, each time at a different location in India. bttt
