Too late for Obama to turn it around? (Is it Kosher, to actually find Camille Paglia inspiring?)
The Clinton propaganda operation, still known as Salon. ^ | 09/09/09 | Camille Paglia

Starting in paragraph 5, Ms. Paglia sounds more ... Republican, more aware of American liberties, and frankly far more ready to stand up and say so, than just about anyone the GOP has out there.

Decide for yourselves:

(full article at the link) I'm really not trying to be subversive here. I realize she's a liberal. A democrat.

But she's written a homerun here:

"Why did it take so long for Democrats to realize that this year's tea party and town hall uprisings were a genuine barometer of widespread public discontent and not simply a staged scenario by kooks and conspirators? First of all, too many political analysts still think that network and cable TV chat shows are the central forums of national debate. But the truly transformative political energy is coming from talk radio and the Web -- both of which Democrat-sponsored proposals have threatened to stifle, in defiance of freedom of speech guarantees in the Bill of Rights." ...

Camille is brilliant. She should go into politics.

Every article she does gets posted here (I’ve done some of them, myself). She’s not a Van Jones/Obama/Pelosi Democrat, she’s more of a Hubert Humphrey or Eugene McCarthy type.

Yes, it’s kosher, because, like everyone else, Paglia isn’t always right, but she actually uses her brain, and she is open-minded. (when she isn’t bogged down with her fascination with pop culture) She had some of the best writing on Sarah Palin, as well.

How "brilliant" can she be, having voted for Obama, when so many of us saw through him two years (at least) ago?

Now that’s a Democrat who realizes her party has been hijacked by something else altogether. Too bad there’s only a couple of ‘em.

Dead on on almost all counts, as usual. I think a Rumsfeld-like light footprint in Afghanistan is probably the right approach. Why 110,000 troops?

She’s smarter than Sarah Palin.

We need intelligent Democrats like Camille to set the party straight.

She was deluded when she voted for Obama. Like most who have “buyer’s remorse”, Camille is loath to admit that she was suckered.

Excellent post! What we are seeing are not democrats in office. Not the real ones of time past.... The Republicans also are unrecognizable. Term limits are in order and quick! No more lifers which turns into a chain of family and friends that take over when you leave.

TERM LIMITS

Democrats' main hope for the 2012 presidential election is that Republicans nominate another hopelessly feeble candidate

We didn't nominate him; you guys crossed over and elected our weakest candidate.

Why 110,000 troops?

So that when Israel could use a little assistance Obama can claim we're all tied up elsewhere.

Great writing. She hits it right on the head and makes it funny:

“Why has the Democratic Party become so arrogantly detached from ordinary Americans? Though they claim to speak for the poor and dispossessed, Democrats have increasingly become the party of an upper-middle-class professional elite, top-heavy with journalists, academics and lawyers (one reason for the hypocritical absence of tort reform in the healthcare bills). Weirdly, given their worship of highly individualistic, secularized self-actualization, such professionals are as a whole amazingly credulous these days about big-government solutions to every social problem. They see no danger in expanding government authority and intrusive, wasteful bureaucracy. This is, I submit, a stunning turn away from the anti-authority and anti-establishment principles of authentic 1960s leftism.”

You can’t pigeonhole Camille. Like most geniuses, she doesn’t fit into any one category.

the best line, “Advanced whack-a-mole is clearly needed for that yammering smarty-pants Newt Gingrich, who is always so very, very pleased with himself but has yet to produce a single enduring thought.”
