Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's SarahPAC has donated money to the campaigns of Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Orrin Hatch of Utah, as well as to Republican Ohio Senate candidate Rob Portman, according to a Friday filing with the Federal Election Commission.

The exact amounts of the contributions were not reported, but Palin had to list the names of candidates she had financially supported to make SarahPAC a bona fide political action committee.

Her contributions to Arizona Sen. John McCain, for whom she served as a running mate in the 2008 presidential campaign, and Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski had been reported in a previous filings

I live in Ohio, and I am voting for Mr. Portman.

Backing RINO’s? Look, she needs backing from prominent Republicans if she wants to compete on a national level. If strategy dictates that she donates to people who are less-than-conservative, so be it. Going at it alone might work in Alaska. Doing that on a national stage will get her nowhere.

Why?? Portman is a big government-DC establishment RINO who supports amnesty for 20 million illegal aliens!

And we think there were no Rinos that Reagan supported?

We need a general and not a pity pity thing.

Sometimes a Rino is the best thing you are going to get, get used it it.

We center at the end of the day must be with Conservatives and we need to ensure that Rinos have no real power no matter how long they have been in the Senate or the House.

Rinos get support for one reason and one reason only, to kill a Democratic seat that would be a slave to that liberial creature referred to as the “Polosi”

I’ll take Mr. Portman’s experience over Mr. Ganley’s.

I work with a lawyer who worked for Mr. Portman in the White House Budget Office.

Mr. Portman is a class act.

Graham has been supportive towards her. She knows a thing or two about loyalty and she understands that South Carolina is an early, open-primary state. She needs his support if she runs for the WH.

{And we think there were no Rinos that Reagan supported?}

Reagan encouraged Arlen Specter to run for Senate in 1980.

From what others have said, they all contributed to her Pac from the beginning, to get her started, and they were being reimbursed the amount. I am not aware of who Rob Portman is, McCain I totally understand, but Lindsey Graham, YUCK. That was the one name on the list that pissed me off, which makes me think she was just reimbursing him for his contribution, especially since Lindsey Graham isn’t even running for anything in 2010, why give him money if he isn’t even running

Then she will have to sacrifice any conservative principles to gain national support. That's the same syndrome the rest of the OP has fallen into over the years.

“Sometimes a Rino is the best thing you are going to get, get used it it.”

Maybe in New England - with candidates like Guiliani - but a national election for President? No, I will fight for conservative candidates.

I want conservatism, period.

No doubt, but I didn’t see this as a Presidential Endorsement, did you?

Portman is not a RINO.

Lifetime ACU rating of 89%

A Rating from the NRA

0% Rating from NARAL

Voted for the Bush tax cuts and supported the war in Iraq

It’s good to see him getting support, be it from Palin or anyone else.

‘Then she will have to sacrifice any conservative principles to gain national support.’

I don’t believe that. The Republicans in office when Reagan was President weren’t all hard-core conservatives, but he welcomed them (and was adamant about his 11th Commandment as well). With Sarah being the most popular conservative in this country, perhaps the RINO’s will have to abandon some of their RINO principles to gain HER support.

This seems to be the new line of attack. Firth the story of the FEC ‘investigating’ SarahPAC, now this. This is explicitly made to drive a wedge between her and her conservative supporters.

My guess is that all these guys have contributed to her PAC and she is returning their money, so that she is not beholden to them. If she truly is endorsing any of these candidate she would have issued a statement either through SarahPAC, her facebook page or an official press release.

I’m curious to see how many here will take the bait.

Graham is locked in 'til 2014. It's possible he gave money to her PAC and she's returning the favor. Who knows.

Again I say that if Palin runs for president, SC may be critical to her if, for instance, she splits Iowa and NH with Romney. Graham has been supportive of her.

I see the all or nothing crowd are not satisfied that they helped give us Obama by sitting home or voting third party
but would rather support candidates who will not beat the
Liberal Democrat.

We all want Conservatives to win but when a 90% conservative with seniority can beat a Liberal, I will take the 90% conservative.

The trolls on FR find it amusing dividing Republcans so their Liberals can win.

Portman is definitely poor on immigration.

I like him on about everything else.

If RINO literally means "Republican In Name Only", I'd say the claim doesn't really stick.

Strongly opposes women's right to abortion
Opposes preferential minority hiring
Strongly opposes same-sex domestic partnerships
Strongly favors teacher-lead prayer in public schools
Favors the death penalty
Favors three-strikes
etc.

He's got some very strong ratings from the groups that we'd consider to the right. And some poor ratings from the left.

I agree though that he seems to suck on immigration. I'll do more research on Ganley, but imagine I'd vote for either. Portman will certainly have more to answer for on immigration as the race heats up.
