Sometime you are not sure till they crow or lay an egg. We have two New Hampshire Reds that we were not sure of. Both are boys, but they get mounted like the girls. I have a couple of "confused" roosters.
They are fun to watch run around the farm. One of the reds was on the back porch eying the tomatoes, he was quickly removed. All in all the chickens have been good for the garden, for the most part they don't bother the plants when they have bugs.

Never have a rooster with your chickens if you plan on eating the eggs.

They get specks of blood in the eggs and it is disgusting!
