At work so I’ll have to keep this short.
Are your plants in the ground? Any disease that tobacco can get, maters can get. Not a definite answer here, but it sounds like your maters have some kind of blight.

Yep, the plants are in the ground. I guess it could be tobacco mosaic; I've never seen that before, so I don't know what it looks like.
Hope it doesn't spread to the hot peppers.
