We’ve only had a handfull of nights when we stayed into the 60s. We’ll have to return to the traditional greens and root crops here in Michigan.
I’ve got a guy coming over this afternoon to see what he needs to do the framing for a new greenhouse to replace my old porch. I may even put a small woodstove out there to keep the chill off at night so I can get started in February or March.
Was working on the foundation this Spring and then got busy with other things....Since I won't use it till fall have put it on the shelf until late August early Sept.
I used to have a small greenhouse here and I heated my house with wood. Every night just before turning in I would fill a coal scuttle with hot coals from the wood stove and set it in the greenhouse. I had an electric heater for backup but I don’t think it ever came on, the bucket of coals would heat the eight by ten foot greenhouse enough without any other heat. The coals would still be hot the next morning, a layer of ash formed over the top but down in the center would be red coals still.
