Already pronounced husband and wife in a March 19th ceremony at the town hall in Paris' 7th arrondissement, the union between Prince Jean d'Orleans, Duke of Vendome and Philomena de Toros y Steinhart was blessed during a religious ceremony held on May 2, 2009.
Well-wishers standing outside Senlis Cathedral in Senlis, France witnessed a steady stream of royals, including Prince Guillaume and Sybille of Luxembourg, the Duke and Duchess of Wurtemberg, The Infanta Pilar of Spain and Prine Philippe and Mathilde of Belgium, stroll by before the bride stepped upon the blue aisle runner which would lead her to the altar.
Wearing an ornate Christian Lacroix creation accented with gold embroidery, a dainty blue bow sewn onto the garment harmonized with the baby blue outfits worn by the tiny attendants, who cared for the gown's train and the lace-edged veil which clung to the turquoise tiara atop the bride's blonde tresses.
Following the exchange of vows, the newlyweds and their guests gathered at Chateau de Chantilly for the reception.

She looks fine. I did have to check and make sure it wasn’t two males getting “married” though..
Whew!
Please remove me from this ping list.
Thank you for the pings... I think the bride looked beautiful.
And that woman near the end of the pics at the site that goldfinch mentioned with the Pink Dress, Hat and Heels...
My eldest daughter commented; “What is she a 1950s Barbie doll?” LOL
Be sure to ping us when you do.
What a beautiful dress—and those shoes! Fantastic! =)

Are there any left?-—
seriously he certainly bears no resemblance Le Roi Soleil
“It is the second engagement of Jean dOrléans, since in 2001 his engagement to Tatjana d Oldenbourg, a German aristocrat Duchess, had been cancelled supposedly because of her religion six months after the announcement.”

She highlighted her hair for the church wedding, and I think it was perfect. I prefer the lighter hair. It really made the turquoise pop and the mantilla sparkle.
Thanks for your comments. It got me to wondering, outside of the present King of Spain, has any European monarchy been restored since, say, 1900?
I did neglect to mention the Orleans family dysfunctional family situation.
The Groom’s father, the current Comte de Paris is divorced and remarried. His first wife, the mother of the Groom, the Duchesse de Montpensier, attended the wedding. The current wife, “Princess Michaela” didn’t attend the wedding because she was hospitalized.
The Groom is not legitimately the heir apparant to the ( non-existent) French throne. He has an oldlder brother who is mentally handicapped, who is thre actual heir.
The Groom’s grand parents, the legendary, Count and Countess of Paris, were long separated. Not sure if they actually divorced. When they died, their many children fought like beasts over the division of their property, and when they couldn’t agree, it was finally auctioned off, including many historical treasures... for the money.
I remember attending the preview for the jewelry sale in Monaco. The devoted children sued one another, and got a Court injunction to stop the sale the night before the bidding began. The jewelry, much of it historic, was magnificent and worth a small fortune.
Personally, I loved the turquoise diadem and I love her shoes too.
I don’t know what people were mocking. It’s nice to see some class displayed and not a wedding dress that reveals all the cleavage so many brides show today - it’s just pathetic.
Check out the toes on the bride’s shoes in the pic at the top..
I know. I love the little touch of whimsy in the shoes, A nice cintreast with the simple, classical elegance of the dress.
Yes, those shoes were very cute!
She is very pretty.
The outfit on the lady in picture number 4 is atrocious! I do love men in morning coats though.
I agree. The boobs-up look of so many tasteless celebrity wannabes is revolting. This is tasteful and historic, and the embroidery with what looks like threads of silk and real gold is exquisite.
Although I do think that most are being overly critical of this beautiful couple on their happiest of days, I must agree that — from a fashion perspective — public brides will be judged on their appearance. Yes, her gown and tiara are exquisite, however they just don’t work for her. Being tall, slim, attractive and blond, she could have incorporated all of her ancestral elements into a demure gown that was more fitting of her style, body shape and country of origin. Simple silhouettes work best for women over 35 — I should know, as I’m over 40. What’s most important is that they’ve found true love.
