As far as I am concerned, the “pandemic” is over. CDC on Twitter says all 20 cases in the USA have recovered. We apparently are not seeing more. Or are we?

I heard last night on the radio that Baxter wants to make a vaccine for the swine flu since they can make it in 13 weeks rather than the 26 weeks it normally takes Baxter is the same company that sent tainted vaccine with an avian strain in it flu vaccine to Europe.

Japan Checking in here to FR:

Now I just caught a mainline Japanese daily newspaper online, smacking the Mexican Government for refusing to quickly seal the border with the USA, stop outgoing airlines, trucks, cars, ships, etc. and from coming and, and sealing up the country in order to get a quick hand on what is going on and avoid its spread to others. It is from the distinguished Japanese daily YOMIURI NEWS.

The headline offers THIS:

メキシコ国境に旅行客往来、豚インフル封じ込め徹底せず

AiT Rough Paraphrase in English: "Travelers Able to Continue to Go Over the Mexican Border Back and Forth; No Effort to Energetically (in Detail) Contain The Hog Influenza."

This, top of the hour, in major Japanese newspaper.

See my post #283, tonight reporting Japanese news breaking and their incredulousness that the irresponsible Mexican government is not shutting flights down leaving Mexico, but continuing to send them off, loaded, particularly to the United States, and failing to close off the nation to keep it contained. Prime Minister Aso of Japan calls emergency meeting of crisis mgt. committee in Tokyo, at 8:30 a.m. local (about one and a half hours ago).

Commits to keeping in close contact with international health agencies to exchange information, and also vows to immediately tighten up all ports of entry into Japan, land-sea-air (immigration process) through screening of all coming into Japan. Commits to keeping Japan isolated from this outbreak as best as possible.(Meanwhile, thousands of Japanese travelers are urgently cancelling all trips to Mexico (and some to US west coast) even before the string of May Japanese holidays known as Golden Week. Many restructuring to instead stay in Japan only, or perhaps visits to local Asian countries also with strict immigration/quarantine policies.

I’ve fallen behind on this thread.

I’m in Ohio and have just read the thread about the Ohio boy who has the MEXICAN swine flu.

But, I have not read how he caught it. Thus far, haven’t all who’ve contracted this been to Mexico? If not, I don’t see how a lone child in Ohio contracted it?

All these countries need to do is to tell Mexico they will refuse to permit landing of planes and everything would be closed off.

I agree with every word of that.

I can't believe our gov't is letting them in! On second thought, I guess it should be expected.

We’re dealing with that now in my house. Hubby is just getting over it, and I have a sore throat, headache, and a cough. Hubby keeps cracking that he has the Swine Flu. What a dork! ;^)

I was just thinking that a whole bunch of kids and their parents from my child’s elementary school went to Mexico at the end of March for a school project. I wonder when this thing “kicked off” so-to-speak. Doesn’t this kind of thing lay dormant for up to 11-14 days? Or am I thinking of something else? I hope my children’s school is paying attention.
