After months of reading about the San Leandro Crossing Project, it seems to me that in the future it would make more sense for architects to design the low-cost housing units so that they could be interspersed with the regular housing.
I live in the Estudillo Estates area and on my street there is an intermingling of small and large homes and also apartment buildings.
Nearing the downtown area, some blocks are commercially zoned. This insures diversity and, in my opinion, it is much more interesting and less economically exclusionary than some other areas of San Leandro.
“Why should only folks in poor neighborhoods worry about being robbed and raped?”
How about property owners get to decide what to build on their property.
That’s just not “fair” everyone needs to live in a great area with great schools...and the haves must pay for the have-nots...
Right, and pretty soon those same schools aren't so great anymore. Same as with placing subsidized housing in middle class neighborhoods. Just spread the crime and chaos around. I have seen this happen in my own town.
Because Liberalism does not recognize human nature...
