This reminds me so much of the French Inspector Clouseau. Perhaps it is because the dog’s name is Sumo. Clouseau did have an oriental servant who beat him up regularly. But I don’t think even Clouseau is this pathetic.

Actually, it’s certainly not (from the photo) a pure maltese. At the link it calls it a poodle maltese (which it coudl be from the photo—check out the curly coat). Probably a *designer dog* a Maltipoo or Pootese.

The "mauling" was likely a single bite on the hand which had to be cleaned and dressed and given a tetnus shot. If he was taking any blood thinners it might have been quite messy.

But when have British newspapers ever exagerated in their headlines?
