It's so disappointing to see someone like Tom Hanks - who does have a very good acting ability - saying things like this. I find it harder and harder to support these individuals after hearing how much they seem to hate our country. This country was founded on Christian principles so for those that would appose prop-8, they obviously do not care what our country was based on, and therefore, to me, they hate what our country stands for.

Fine.

He's made his statement.

I won't watch a single movie anymore starring that b'stard.

Tom Hanks, Executive Producer for HBO’s controversial polygamist series “Big Love,”

Wonder when Tom will look at islam...4 wives, sex slaves, raping of infidels, EXECUTIONS OF HOMOSEXUALS...

Yep, great actor.

But so far removed from reality ‘we the people’ deal with daily its rather frightening.

These Hollywood people don’t even realize how fascist they sound! The fact that they say what’s on their sick mind in public just shows just how out of touch they are, and how little opinion from the other side they actually hear.

Tom Hanks, started out a comedian and still is only never funny.

Me thinks they throw Un-American around too much.

I think he’s a socialist commie sympathizer. So there.

So, let me get this correct: it is unAmerican to not pay more taxes, it is unAmerican to support Israel, it is UnAmerican to not support anal sex, it is unAmerican to support the second Amendment.........weird.

So basically, Tom Hanks does not respect nor tolerate people who hold a traditional view of marriage.

I’d say the problem is that Tom loves his fellow man. . .

. . . a bit too literally. . .

(evil grin)

Who will be first to post a photo from Tom’s “Bosom Buddies” days? :)

Another actor off my list of people to see.

He must be evil because he played a gay guy in “Philadelphia.”

Tom, Tom, Tom.
In my life, I have known and been friends with Mormons and they are more solid than you as people and as citizens of this nation. Have you ever served others as Moromon missionaries do? No? Have you made your faith and your family the heart of your life? No?

I’ve never thought Hanks was a good actor (and I’m not just being spiteful). I thought he was a good American though. Now I know he’s just another Lib Nazi who views Americanism as Libertinism and Socialism. I’ll never watch another one of his movies again, which won’t be hard since I really don’t like him as an actor.

If you think he is such a great actor just remember Bosom buddies, or whatever it was called.

I must have missed the part of his speech where he said that blacks and hispanics who supported prop 8 were also being un-american.

That’s exactly why I favor free speech. Let people talk freely and we can make judgments based on their honest and open opinions. Of course, I believe free speech should have consequences, which is not how a lot of free speakers want it (see, e.g., The Dixie Chicks). Speech codes and political correctness just bury prejudices where they can do a lot more damage to trusting people who vote for, defend, patronize or associate with them.

Sounds like Tom is questioning the patriotism of anyone who supported Prop 8. And here I thought we couldn’t question a person’s patriotism.
