There's a mistake you can't recover from. Obviously you WERE NOT paying attention, not that it mattered. If you're a conservative, you probably didn't vote for McCain in the primary anyway. If you did, well, I'm not going to call names.
Very interesting.
Then we disagree. That's my point.
If you hear about that call...let me know.
I will do same.........
Don't go down the experience road because I'll shoot that down right quick. It's a Democrat/Media straw dog.
Palin is skillful and intelligent. She was not treated well by the MSM, which should be no surprise. She didn't lack experience in comparison to Obama. However, prior to the Palin pick, McCain could claim experience as his strength in comparison to Obama. When he picked Palin, he took that card off the table. That's all I meant.
John McCain only began to run on core Conservative themes when it became apparent that his "reaching across the aisle" malarkey was getting him nowhere. That act only alienated conservatives and earned him nothing but contempt from liberals and their news media allies. That's why he chose Sarah Palin - to recover disaffected conservative base Republicans who had been deserting him in droves.
Unfortunately, by that time, the unpopularity of the Bush Administration and the media love affair with St. Barrack The Obama was so deeply ingrained that it was almost a hopeless battle.
“Who was the drag on the GOP ticket?”
McCain!
You can’t run as a moderate and win as a Republican.
Found it, right here:

(SNIP)
GOVERNOR PALIN: “Hey, Dan, this is Sarah Palin. I wanted to give you a call and just try to hook up with you guys to hopefully get to share a few words with Glenn and I want to give you my husband Todd’s phone number. It’s area code [BLEEP]. Again Dan its Sarah Palin, and calling from the campaign trail. Getting on an airplane here shortly but just dying to talk to Glenn. Maybe the campaign’s been too busy to hook up with you guys. So I’ll do it myself and hopefully I’ll talk to you guys soon. Bye.”

Wrong. Palin was as much qualified as other governors who've run for federal office, even the presidency. Nothing was taken off the table. What occurred, as you point out, was her treatment by the MSM, and an uninformed electorate. This should not be construed as a mistake on McCain's nor Palin's part.
Let's put it this way: A two-term state legislator, one-tem congressman who loses twice in bids for the US Senate. Even so, he gains his parties nomination for president and actually wins. He selects a cabinet filled with those he considers the most qualified individuals, crossing party lines, but this cabinet becomes a microcosm of rifts and disunion, not only within his party but within the nation as a whole.
And beyond that the man is considered an ignorant buffoon, is marginalized by the press, and must repeatedly work through his entire presidency trying to mollify extremes in that cabinet and party. This on top of the excessive pressures the office brought.
I ask you; is that a recipe for success?
Yet Abraham Lincoln did succeed beyond the wildest dreams of anyone.
No. Palin was NOT a bad selection. Palin was not the wrong individual. Palin was marginalized by the media, and a woefully ignorant electorate which also is mostly turned off by politics believe the pap they were fed. But don't take this as a favorable comparison of Sarah Palin to Abraham Lincoln. I'm saying, ugly trees can bear beautiful fruit.
OK, that ends this I have to go and get something done. It's been interesting, but let's agree to disagree.
Sorry to bother you about it...
Republican turnout was, in-fact, down severely in states like Ohio. That was a combination of Bush’s follies and a M.O.T.S. candidate in McCain.
Had nothing to do with RNC support, or lack thereof, IMHO. The base simply did not connect with McCain, and early in the process he seemed not to care much about that.
Nothing was done to embrace or energize the base until Palin was named to the ticket. By that point it was already too late. As a result, McCain didn’t have anywhere near the volunteer base that Obama did.
The fool who voted for the trillion dollar bailout.
Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I think it’s evidence she may have been boxed-in and her part in the campaign was mishandled.
I agree with you about Beck, though. :-)
And what have we been told about exit polls? She was the only one who kept his boat afloat.
As I said before, I agree!
But, consider the experience McCain has, whether we disagree with some of his positions or not. The press was hammering him on his age. McCain could make the case that he had the experience Obama lacked. By picking Palin, he took that card off the table.
And, OK, let's agree to disagree.
A “You wrote exactly what has been on my mind since last night” BUMP!
