Thanks for your contribution. The only problem with the scheme you describe is that the drugs they are prescibing to these children are no joke! Ritlan, Adderal and the like are all dangerous stimulants on par with cocaine and other illegal drugs. They all have serious side effects that I do not think anyone takes into account. In addition the children themselves may be having real problems that are not being addressed. I think this situation will go on for the time being but eventually the chickens will come home to roost!
Despite all the scientology discussion on this thread (of which I am a part!), I do agree with you. Kids are way over diagnosed and way over medicated and someday we may very well find out we did some serious harm to a lot of people with these psychotropic drugs applied to growing young bodies.
School shooters on Ritalin et al come to mind (is it underlying problems that get these kids to this point, or the drugs they were taking for them?)...oh, and hearing the side effects descriptors - there’s just something not right about taking an antidepressant that can make you suicidal. ;)
