Keith Richards: Today’s Drugs Are Rubbish
Undercover News ^ | September 21 2006 | Daniel Zugna

Posted on 09/21/2006 7:00:01 AM PDT by LurkedLongEnough

Keith Richards has claimed that he no longer takes drugs – because their quality just isn’t what it used to be.

The surprise revelation comes from the world’s most infamous drug fiend, who was addicted to heroin for most of the 1970s. He told Q Magazine, “I really think the quality's gone down. All they do is try and take the high out of everything.”

And Richards is not a fan of synthetic party drugs, explaining with teary-eyed nostalgia, “I don't like the way they're working on the brain area instead of just through the blood system.”

He went on, “That's why I don't take them any more. And you're talking to a person who knows his drugs.”

Richards did however admit to indulging in the therapeutic benefits of morphine after his recent run in with gravity and a palm tree in Fiji. “I've had a couple of weeks on morphine,” he said. “I did try to squeeze the little bit extra out of the night nurse. She was very accommodating.”

Why the democrats aren't working on getting this guy elected to some office (any office) is beyond me.

Decadent, but refreshingly honest. Democratic politicians should take note.

I think the only drug he hasn't used yet is formaldyhide, and considering all he has done, when he dies they likely won't need it.

Drugs have obviously been good to both members of the Glimmer Twins. Most guys would have to be dead for a week to look as good as does Keith.

Albums were good for rolling joints
CDs for cutting lines
Can't roll shit on an MP3
Call it a sign of the times.

It could be that he's developed a resistance to the effects of the drugs. Presumably you could give him a bowl of arsenic and he'd just get the hiccups.

Regards, Ivan

I'm sure he still smokes herb. Most rockers dont' even count that as a drug.

He switched to formaldehyde some time ago.

"“I don't like the way they're working on the brain area instead of just through the blood system.” He no longer has a brain area obviously. You can just feel his wanting to feel that needle in is arm again and feel that heroine working it's way through his veins, easing his pain.

It could be that he's developed a resistance to the effects of the drugs Bingo. Hell, the THC content in today's weed is 10x what it was in his.

When he dies, I hope they don't cremate the body, the fumes alone will give you a high for several weeks.

He may be having a "bit of fun" with the interviewer, who knows.

From what I read (and only from what I read) it seems that the quality of cannabis products has gone way *up*! It seems like the folks up in British Columbia and elsewhere have seriously amped up their consumables.

It could be that Keif doesn't even consider weed a "drug", though.

Funny stuff.

So boomers have become cranky old farts. "You young kids! You don't know what drugs are! When I was a boy drugs gave you cramps and nausea and brain damage and bad breath -- you knew you'd taken an illegal drug, by cracky! Not like these weird designer drugs! Ritalin -- bah, it might make you study . . ."

I think you're right. He has simply fried his brain to the point that he doesn't get the rush anymore.

"All this progress....feh. We didn't have those fancy schmanzy designer drugs. In my day we had one drug and when you did it your head exploded, and that's the way it was and we liked it."
