Fantasy Cable TV (If you could save by paying $1 per channel what package would you pick on TV ?)

Posted on 11/28/2005 11:00:45 PM PST by april15Bendovr

Create your own fantasy cable TV package and imagine you only have to pay one dollar per TV channel.

Even if I only had to pay only $15 for basic service and had

1. Fox News

2. Discovery Channel

3. History Channel

4. The Learning Channel

5. Sci Fi Channel

For $20 dollars a month I would be very happy.

Sometimes other than watching Fox News I feel I am supporting the Moveon.org cable company

I dont care for the rest of the liberal dribble on the other channels. This is all I want.

People complain about gas prices but I feel I get more by out of burning fuel in my car than watching useless TV. Your thoughts please?

For sports, I'd need to add ABC, CBS, NBC and ESPN to your list

Sports to guys can be just as much a diversion from reality as women when watching reality TV shows and Soap operas.

I find it upsetting when I go to the gym exercising with cardiovascular equipment and one TV has the sports channel on and the rest are all on soap operas. I keep thinking to myself ? if this is what America watches than its no wonder nobody knows the truth about our achievements in Iraq and rely purely on their emotions with the news blaming President Bush for failure even though we are winning.

At my family reunions when all the guys get together it becomes one gigantic circle jerk of just sports talk.

All I want to do is light up a cigar and talk about, politics the economy, hard work, some sports and why liberals are such pussies.

It's easier to eliminate channels:

Kill all the money-grubbing religious channels.
Kill all the product-selling channels.
Kill all the womyn's channels.
Kill all MSM channels.

That's a good start.

My question is: Why can't we do that now?

My question is: Why can't we do that now?

Because that's not the way the media companies market their products to the cable/satellite companies. If a cable company wants to offer ESPN to its subscribers, ESPN contracts with them to carry ESPN plus ESPN2 and ESPN Classic. There's not enough interest from the market for the cable companies to go to bat against their media suppliers in order to offer a la carte programming.

You can keep SciFi and I'll take SpeedTV.

ESPN, Military Channel and I'll also need some movie channels - like AMC, TCM - maybe even HBO.

I guess that is why I am trying to figure out why this was bumped to general chat from a news topic since it is being argued on the congressional floor?

pro wrestling is to men what soaps are to women. it's theatre for men only the wrestlers are often better actors. (albeit with equally corny story lines)
